Question about 1995 Volvo 850

1 Answer

I changed the bulb on the driver side headlight of my 1995 Volvo 850, and it still will not work. I assumed the bulb was bad and got another and it did not work. The auto parts store checked and the bulb is good. What can be causing this. I checked the fuses and they were fine.

It can be caused by the headlight switch.

Possible bad relay or bad ground. Try tapping the relay with helper watching to see if light flashes.

I bought a 1995 volvo 850 tubo and the dash lights do not work What may be the problem

I have the same problem. I found out that the dimmer /rheostat is not working. If you know where the dimmer switch is located, take it out using a small screw driver. After taking it out you will see there are color coded wirings, brown for voltage supply, black for ground dimmer, white supply voltage with headlights, pink output voltage and white/black for grounds with headlights. I jumpered the brown wire to pink wire and put everything back.

if they blow, then it could be that you are getting moisture in the lamps(they will act like fuses)if they just get dim then the quality of the bulb is suspect.....

How to change a head light on a Volvo 850 Turbo 1995

Generally speaking, when you pop the hood you look at the back of the headlight assemblies where the connections are for electricity. You can unplug the harness for the lamp in question and unclip the lamp retainer and remove the lamp. When you are putting the new one in, make sure not to touch the glass because the lamps get VERY hot and can burst because of oils left from your skin.

Volvo 850 - Headlights/Brakelights

Hi Metzgerism!

No tools are needed to do such replacements, as both head- and brake-lights are accessible by simply removing panels/caps that cover them. For the headights there are caps that can be twisted and removed, while for the brakelights you need to carefully pry open a panel on the rear post.

Good luck!
