Latch must be getting sticky , try pushing down on the hood, sometimes it may take several attempts before hood pops up.

Hood release under dash does not open hood

You need to spray or brush all the sand, grit etc off all
parts of the hood locking assy with solvent, mineral spirits,
brake cleaner

Then blow it clean & lightly lube with almost anything

The white lithium lube some people like, works there

To open the hood have someone push down on it
& pull the release cable

I can get the hood open on my 1984 Ford F150 but can't find the release lever so I can raise the hood.

The release is under the dash to the left of the driver, reach under and pull the handle.

Econoline hood release not releasing. Latch at front of hood moves just fine. I can pull the hood release under the dash a couple inches, but it is not releasing anything at the hood end. What can I do to...

first, try smacking the hood at one of the front corners while someone else pulls the release handle. or even after you've pulled on it. if that works, once open, adjust and lubricate the hood latch assembly. if it still won't open, and it's the cable and not the latch you'll have to replace it anyway, so instead of removing the grill, cut the cable behind the pull lever under the dash where you can reach it. then skin the outer cable insulation away from the actual steel cable exposing an inch or two of it. then holding the insulation and plastic housing with pliers, grab the steel cable itself with pliers and pull it to open the hood. then replace the cable. the further you can reach up under the panel the better your chances of getting past the broken part of the cable and avoid removing the grill. you might also be able to gain access from up under the car if you're lucky.

1996 dodge intrepid hood latch won't release

Very common problem with the dodges, look under your dash and you will see where the probably now broken cable use to connect. You can pull it by hand to release the hood, They are not hard to replace, just unbolt the handle unit and bolt in the new one. The cable usually just snaps into a holder on the bracket under the dash. Some if these vehicles came with the hood cable that goes all the way to the hood release latch under the hood if that is the case you can still open the hood you just have to do it from under the car in the front. Hope this helped

2004 Nissan Titan. Hood release under dash is not working. There is no tension when it is pulled.

chances are that the cable broke, youll have to open the hood from under the car, and then replace the hood release cable.

Trying too find the hood relies on a 1968 cougar XR7

Hello buttercup666...For 1985-88 models, the latch was moved to the left kick panel, below the parking brake release. Once you've pulled the latch, the hood will pop up about an inch. To further open the hood, stand directly in front of the grille and use your left hand to push up the release under the hood. The release is slightly to the left of center.
Good luck i hope this helps, please rate my response a fixya
