Hi I'm litoshop if you see the water coming down from the middle of the engine through the belts then you have a bad water pump that you may need to replace you can use a radiator sealer and it may help for a while but the best thing to do is replace the pump. if this information has been helpful please let us know good luck

Could be the rad hose fitting is loose , but chances are high that it is more likely the water pump is shot.

There is a loud noise near the alternator and after it runs it smells like something burning could it be air pump it has fairly new water pump and new alternator

i would check your tensioner and idler pulley. you may have a bad bearing and its dragging the belt causing friction which then creates the burning belt smell. remove your serpentine belt and spin all pulleys by hand p/s, alternator, water pump, tensioner, idler, a/c. if the pulley is stiff or feels rough then thats the component at fault and you would need to replace that certain component and its also best practice to replace your belt now too.

Wheres the belt tensionor on '99 ford taurus 3.0 ohv

Facing the belt from the passenger side front fender, the lowest pulley that the belt rides on is the crank shaft, the belt tensioner is just above and to the right of the crank shaft. It doesn't have ridges that the belt rides in because the backside of the belt is what rides on the tensioner.
I hope this was helpful.

I have Ford Taurus 2001. There is a screech sound near the belt.

That would be your belt tensioner and or water pump or idler pulley. Only way to found out take the belt off and wiggle each one.

Water pump

Is it a 99 or an 03? Either way fairly simple. You will need to remove the splash shield on the passenger side wheel well. Removing tire is optional. If it is a 99, the pump should be located near the radiator. Loosen the bolts that hold the pulley on the pump before removing the belt. This will save you time later. Remove the belt, then remove the pulley. Take all the bolts out of the waterpump. Install in reverse order. If it is an 03, it is near the firewall side of the motor. Remove shield, loosen pulley bolts. The pulley will not come off until you get the water pump out, but you need to remove the bolts for it any way. Take the bolts out of the waterpump. You will need a pry bar to get the pump/pulley out. You can pry on the tensioner against the fenderwell and wiggle it out. Install in reverse order.

Hi, Have you tried your local library? They are usually a great resource for auto repair manuals that would likely cover the 99 taurus serpentine belt diagram.I hope it did not break on you.
