Question about 1993 Isuzu Trooper

1 Answer

Where is the ECM located on a 1993 Isuzu Trooper?

I have one coil pack that is not working. I need to try unplugging the ECM and battery in order for it to reset....maybe. Also need to look for corroded wires.

If you don't have a coil pack working, unplugging the ECM will do nothing to reset the coil pack. If you have power present at the plug, you need a new coil pack.

1998 bmw 540i having a misfire on cylinder 5 changed the plugs and coil packs. It ran fine for a couple days, then it began again, giving me a check engine, and it's idling rough at low rpms.

Is the same cylinder causing the problem? If so take a close look at the spark plug for fuel fouling. The cylinder may be over fueled causing plug fouling. You may also have a bad coil or defective spark plug. Try swapping coil and plug with one from adjacent cylinder to see if misfire changes to that cylinder

Obd code po353 4.6 engine and firing order

You can look up any code on google by typing in OBD 2 code: XXXXX and you will get a number of hits and explanations as to what to do. From what you show, it sounds like the spark plug wires may be on in the wrong order or you are getting a misfire due to a fouled spark plug, bad spark plug wire or even possibly a bad coil pack or distributor depending on which you vehicle has. A lot of newer cars have coil packs instead of a distributor and each pack usualy has two connectors. If you put them on in the wrong order or matched up the wrong cylinder with the wrong coil pack, you may need to get a repair manual from an auto parts store which describes what order they go into. Once you have tried this, you will need to clear the code with an OBD2 scanner or by removing the battery terminals and reconnecting it after a few minutes. The bummer is that you may have to reset all your radio stations and your clock. :(
