Battery light stays on all the time on my 1985 E250 ford van, i changed the alternator, changed the voltage regulator changed starter silonoid, and it does not hold a charge after jumping!

u need to chek for batt volts at the pos pole on the bak of alt.should b batt voltage if not then wire from pos pole on back of alternator to battery could be broken, causing no output tobattery. wiggl voltage regulator wires while engine runs an check volts with a voltmeter to see if it jumps to over 13v wen wiggling connector.also chek fuses an fusible links for continuity.

98' Cav.. Drove it to store, shopped, didnt leave anything running or turned on. Went to car, opened dr...no dome light (thought, hmph, must have burned out -- fix later). Tried to start car... I turned...

this sound to me like at first I thought it was a fuse, as the problem went on it shifted more toward a weak cell in the battery, if a weak cell sits for a little while the battery will not hold the charge in that cell and that will cause loss of power, "its charge", in tne other cells. you had mentioned you used another battery and it ran great but when the battery was removed, things went wrong. You may check to see if there is water in your battery

Still not charging

should have an internal voltage regulater but check that it may have a voltage regulater mounted on near the batt. area this may fix the problem

Instrument panel went dead

Checked Every fuse in the fuse box (no small task). This includes #4 - Power point Instrument Panel, #14 - Day time running lamps (auto lamps doesn't work nor does auto lock), #27 - ignition switch run feed, #35 - Instrument Cluster, #41 - Instrument Cluster, #42 - Delayed Accessory, #45 - Ignition switch run/start feed, #102 - Door locks body security module, #103 - Ignition switch, #110 - Ignition switch, & #116 - Ignition switch. But I also check all other ones as well, they all register OK. AC panel & radio work. Turn signals work. Mileage does not work, trip computer does. So, basically, everything works except auto head-lights, auto locks, and the dash cluster (no MPH, RPM, mileage display, Fuel, Temp, Tran Temp, and Oil Pressure).

Speedometer goes haywire

Speed senser can be bad. Check engine light codes can confirm. Don't jump to the new one right away as it not the only things that can cause this if it doesnt jump or bounce with the car not moving even reving the motor the seser seens to be the culprit many auto parts stores can check for codes on this car Auto Zone and Advance still read codes for free. Get the battery tested and the altenator too as they all can make this hapen Battery cables and battery charging prblems can make the speedometer climb even on a good car by reving up the engine while stopped but it goes up smoothly and not more than 5 mph or so no jumping or full scaling. Ground wire where it hooks to the block near the starter rusted and reinstalled should be checked before any parts are changed IPC ( insrument Panel Cluster ) Seldom fail but if all the gauges do somthing bad it's possible. GM parts sends them to be redone at the factory and the car won't run with the cluster removed

2007 Hyundai Elantra has to be jump started. Battery is fine

from your comment, theres 3 things that can cause this, loose batt.post connection, weak batt.or something in elect. circuit that stays on after car is off and drains batt.,like underhood light, dome or truck light, what u can do is when u park car unhook batt. cable, make sure batt. is well charged, hook it up next day if car starts, its something that drains batt.in car! if it doesnt start, batt. needs replacing.i ruled out starter, dealer should have checked it to see if it was pulling too much amps, and that its easy to jump.
