Question about 1999 Dodge Ram

1 Answer

Engine Vibration I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 truck and a couple of days ago I was pulling a camper and the truck started vibrating, felt like it was in the engine because it lost power and the check engine light was blinking. Pulled off the road and started off again and it ran fine the rest of the way home. What do you think?

Low octane gas and a missfire could caused the knock sensor to send a signal to the computer which retarded the timing and caused you to loose power. When you killed and restarted it, it recovered. Maybe some new plugs are needed.

Vibration when accelerating

A vibration when accelerating is almost always related to drive train. Check the U-joints to make certain that the bolts are in place and snug. If so, then pull the axle and manipulate them, just don't let a caps fall off. If it does, you will probably have to replace the joint.

1996 Dodge Ram 1500 vibration while driving only felt from drivers seat

No the idle issue is not the TPS, it is a sludged up throttle valve and automatic idle speed control air bypass valve. The procedure below should cure the idle issue. As far as the vibration goes this needs a hands on diagnosis by a good noise and harness trained tech, tire shops are good for this technican as well of course the Dodge dealer. Find below the cleaning procedure for the throttle valve and idle valve
Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (it is made by CRC) from the local auto parts store, NEVER USE CARB CLEANING SPRAY, IT DESTROYS THE ANTI-STICK TEFLON COATING, spray it into the air intake through the throttle body of the engine until you have used about half the can, you will need to hold the idle up while you do this, it will try to stall, after this shut the engine down and disconnect the Negative (-) battery cable for 5 minutes. The intake is now clean, if you continue to have the idle speed control problems you may need to seek the help of a professional

Hi i have a 1999 dodge durango and it makes a wierd sound at back of motor by trans sounds like something rattling just started couple weeks ago funny thing is it only does it while in park once you put it...

i would check to see if there is a heat shield, or protective shield in the area that you described, that might be loose or need tightening up, this could be the vibrating or rattling , when the engine is in park, due to the higher rpm's, also check to see if transmission mounts are tight.

2005 dodge diesel got a 70mph a vibration

I would check the driveshaft. This is the most likely cause. Get on a flat surface with the engine off, wheels chalked, in nuetral, brake released. This will allow free movement of the axle. Shake it vigoruosly up down right left. Don't forget both front and rear. These joints usually have an 80 K mile life give or take. If any loosness is felt at all, that's your vibration.

Bad vibration engine trans under load

seems your problem is within your clutch, defective part, usually a defective release bearing will cause gear shifter and pedal vibration but not as bad as yours, but by pressing on clutch pedal vibration stops, point to clutch!
