if it is a flat belt--probably not
google-- vintage and antique car clubs --- and ask around as there are owners of the make that will know where to get a belt or who can make one
the diagrams come on hte back of the belt package from some suppliers and if not your local parts store should be able to print one off for you. I prefer Advance Auto Parts
YEP SOME JEEP 6 CYLINDER ENGINE BELT TENSIONER NOT AUTOMATIC.YOU HAD TO ADJUST BELT TENSION BY LOOSEN THE POWER STEERING PUMP BOLTS AND TURN THE TENSIONER ADJUSTING BOLT TO TIGHTEN OR LOOSEN THE DRIVE BELT.IF YOU HAVE THE AUTOMATIC BELT TENSIONER.EITHER YOU ARE GETTING THE WRONG ONE OR BELT TOO BIG.IF IT WAS ME TAKE TO ANOTHER GARAGE.
just in front of the altenator, there is a 10mm bolt, tighten that and it will tighten the fan belt .
these belts are quite tight, make sure the one you have is the correct length, sometimes the suppliers will send one that is close to the correct size, and is sometimes a few milimeters smaller.
You dont normally have to loosen anything else, but the easiest way is to put the belt on the alternator, tensioner and power steering first, then ease the belt over the ridge of the crankshaft last, one rib at a time, but evenly all the way around the pulley.
If it IS a serpentine belt, the tensioner should be fairly tightly spring loaded (if it is still in good condition), so if the belt is not getting tight, (and the tensioner is in good condition), you must be misrouting the belt. There is only ONE WAY the belt can be properly installed.
A serpentine belt has a spring loaded belt tensioner-no adjustment.
Each v-belt has its own separate belt tensioner which must be mechanically adjusted for tightness.
Is there still a sticker on your hood or by the fan shroud showing the proper belt routing for reference?
Remove the fan shroud cover and draw the fan belts route, loosen the aircon tensioner bolts x 3 on the left side of the cover and remove the aircon belt. With a 15 mm socket on a power wrench pull the auto tensioner to the rightand remove the belt , with a little skill and patience you can get the old belt off and the new one on over the fan blades without removing the fan.Make sure the belt is on properly to prevent it coming off when starting.
