Question about 1987 Pontiac Fiero
During the time of the day that it won't start, try checking for spark to the spark plugs. Pull one of the wires and shove a screwdriver in it and place it about an 1/8 of an inch away from the engine to see if it sparks while someone cranks the engine.
If it doesn't spark then you definitely have a problem in the ignition system and it'll more than likely be a bad ignition module that controls the spark. You can take the part to Autozone and they'll check it out for you for free. These things tend to go bad sometimes and it'll just stop working sometimes due to heat. If that one checks out then you may have an issue with the pickup coil in the distributor.
One other thing to try is to pull the distributor cap and spray the inside of it with some WD-40. Could be you have moisture creeping in keeping it from starting but that is highly unlikely.
