Front brake pads were replaced, started out fine but know they stick? Do I need to have the rotors resurfaced?

Need to repace front brakes and rotors, the car only has 31000 miles on it!!


The brake pads are well within a good long life. Brake wear life depends on a number of factors, the most significant is the driver. Most people feel that they are easy on brakes and that is usually not true...

Rotors are damaged by: normal wear; waiting too long for pads and damage from metal to metal contact; and HEAT. Heat damages rotors and causes them to warp. Cars now days have less material on the rotors and therefore they have shorter life.

On some vehicles it is only slightly more to replace rotors, versus resurfacing them. A resurfaced rotor has less material, so warping happens faster.....Some shops just routinely replace rotors, rather than resurface for just this reason.

Other shops routinely replace calipers, which can be agrued either way, but a caliper that hangs slightly will cause rotor warp. My preference is to replace calipers when they need it, by leaking or binding....

I have a Hummer H3. I hear Noise from wheels while turning & doesn't stop. Also I hear a grinding noise when I hit the brakes. Dealer had to resurface rotors. Problem started at 15000 miles. Took it...

I have the same problem with my 2008 Hummer H3. I had the front and rear rotors resurfaced. I am now thinking of getting the rotors replaced with bigger more durable rotors. Solution about the sticking brake caliper sounds about right if you hear a grinding noise as you drive without even touching the brake pedal.

2007 camry brakes vibrating


Installing new brake pads on toyota camry solara 2006 front rotors and pads and rear pads. Steering wheel would shake while breaking on 50+ miles per hour speeds. All fixed now.

Front end shimmys when applying brakes no loose parts brakes good could possibly be front bearings if so how do you get them out very rusty and bolts in poor shape


The rotors for the brakes are most likely warped,they need resurfacing ,the auto parts store can do this for you.

sounds as though the brake rotors are warped. if they are in otherwise good condition, a shop may be able to resurface them. however, you should have the brakes checked for overall condition, it may be time for a complete brake job. good luck!

When I press on the brakes, I feel a pulse sensation and my 05 corolla doesn't stop right away in cold weather. The car kind of veers to the left sometimes. Do I need to replace the pads, rotors or both?


You need to replace the front pads and resurface or replace the rotors. Also check your slides for the calipers and make sure they are clean and well lubed when yo reassemble the brakes. If the slight pull still occurs either nthe flex hose or caliper is starting to get weak. But I think for now doing the front pads and rotors will solve your problems.

Your rotors should be fine but it also depends on who turned the rotors and how they were done.Considering the dealer replaced the pads they probably used a metallic pad which have been known to be a noisy .Id suggest you have a repair shop resurface your rotors again and install some ceramic brake pads.

I am replacing the brake pads on my Kia 2007 Sedona; front and back is neeeded or just front? Took it to Kia dealer and mechanic showed me pads where very thin and needed replacement; all for $400! Heck...


If your rotors are good and fairly smooth, then a decent ceramic pad will work well. Just be aware that ceramic pads will require a slightly greater paddle pressure. They will last longer, dust up a bit less and will perform MUCH greater in stop and go traffic...

I suspect that 25 dollars per axle is a typical cost for good quality disc brake pads.

Interesting!... What/Where did you hear about 'factory bolts shearing" I've done some research and have found NOTHING with regard to this. The rear brake service procedure is no different than the front (except, you must release the emergency brake in order to remove the rear rotors). I don't understand your concern. I sincerely hope you are resurfacing (remachining) rotors and replacing pads. It's important rotors be remachined (resurfaced) when replacing pads... if not, rotors can overheat and wear out faster than their normal lifetime.

What type of pads are you guys using? The number one complaint on cars is brake noise. One of the best solutions is to use quality ceramic pads. You may have cailpers sticking. If you have scorch marks on rotors or pulsation in pedal after resurfacing rotors, this is a good indication.
