Troublesome third brake light - civic 2006 coupe

My third brake light (middle) on my 2006 civic coupe is being very inconsistent. when the weather is humid and damp, it works. when it's dry and hot, it won't work. how do i fix this?

Well, what's been happening, is sometimes when i apply my brake, i'll notice that the middle brake (the one over the trunk in the window) light won't work. oddly enough, the times that it DOES WORK are usually at night in foggy or overcast weather, so i started thinking that the wiring has come loose somewhere, and the current it only able to travel completely when the weather is damp. i ruled out the idea that the bulb may just be dead, because it still comes on every now and again, and it's not just a flicker.

i'll gladly try to dismantle the light myself, but i don't even begin to know how, and i'm afraid to break my car :). if i have to take it in i will, but i've been out of a job for 6 months now, so i was trying everything to prevent having to pay for it.

    any suggestions?

Take the light apart and either spray the connection part of the bulb with QD contact spray for eletrical devices or get a new bulb. This should solve your problem.

Take the light apart. Get the bulb out and either spray it with QD contact spray on the metal connection part or get a new bulb.

It does sound like a bad connection. During the winter my jeeps right headlight did the same thing except i could literally hit it and it would come on. I finally got sick of it so i replaced the head light and it hasnt happened since. Some times the wires in the bulb are just barely apart and when the weather changes the metal may move slightly and connect. I would try replacing the bulb before taking it to a shop. The light assembly should come off with a few screws and the bulb would be right there after you took off the cover. I hope this helps.

There is no fuse for the third brake light that I know of, it is wired into the main brake light wiring on most cars anyway. Probably the bulb is blown.
