Depends on what tires you have. See the side wall of the tire for maximum pressure. You will get maximum carry weight at the max pressure. Some people like to run their tires about 5psi lower than maximum to allow for heating up during travel.

The maximum gross vehicle weight is 3973 pounds. The 2002 PT Cruiser's curb weight (AT) is 3190 pounds; the curb weight (MT) is 3108 pounds. Thus you can't have more than about 800 pounds of cargo/passengers. The max trailer load is 1000 pounds (for the 2010 and probably for the 2002).

this 1997 bonneville can have a trailer with a max touge wieght of 350 lbs and total trailer weight of 3500lbs max, inculing trailer weight, good day.

(over 1,000 lbs requires trailer brakes)

have a look on the tyre itself..it is normally mentioned on them.Now you need to work out factors like long distances and carrying weight which may need more air pressure.

I don't think that anyone publishes that number but, I would not consider putting anything more than half or less of the average weight of max passenger load (assume the average passenger at about 165lbs) Reasoning behind this is that weight distribution is an important factor in how your vehicle handles. By adding weight above the vehicle, you are radically changing the center of gravity,(creating a "top-heavy" situation) making the possibility of a roll-over greater.
You also need to consider the weight of the load you are carrying inside the car. You don't want to exceed that number overall or it will cause "bottoming" and suspension damage.
So, if packing for a trip, keep the heaviest items inside the passenger compartment where the weight is between the front and rear wheels, next heaviest in the trunk and lightest in the roof addition. this will keep the roll center as low as possible and front to back weight distribution even. You may want to raise your tire pressure a few pounds as well to prevent a tire failure from overloading. Max pressure and weight load is marked on the sidewall of every tire.
One other item worth mentioning is to check your roof box after the first thirty miles or so. make sure it is still secure...I see far too many lying on the side of the road, likely because someone did not do that.!!
