Check the fuses-sometimes a good one is bad could be a bad motor also-it might be corroded or gettin old. check wire connections thats the 1st step or bring it to those discount places they scan it for free

Could be due to failure of the sun roof switch, the limit switch module, the sun roof actuator, the sunroof module or the 30A PWR WINDOWS PWR SUN ROOF CIRCUIT BREAKER in the I/P fuse block.

Sun roof is stuck open only closes half way

try Ultra Lube spray from Lowes. spray tracking liberally and use terry cloth to clean excess fluid. this spray not only lubricates 4x better than wd-40 but give life to rubber tracking as well.

98 Pontiac sunfire sunroof will not close.Switch clicks in open but no sound when pushed to close

More than likely you have a defective electric sun roof drive motor. remove the cover on the motor and tap it with hammer handle, if it starts working you need to replace it.

I believe you have a fuseable link blown you need to check your wiring for any cut bared off spots. Try unhooking the hot post and touching it back on and listen for any snapping replace your fuses see if they blow if not turn one thing at a time on till something happens

How do i change the sun roof in a 1998 pontiac sunfire

REMOVE HEADER PANEL IT WILL EXPOSE SUN ROOF MOTOR AND RAILING SYSTEM, GO TO WRECKER YARD BUY USED ONE FOR AROUND 120 BUCKS. REPLACE IT. THERES MORE DETAILS OF COURSE BUT IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY KNOWELEGE OR EXPERIENCE, JUST BUY THE ROOF FROM THE WRECKER AND GET A LOCAL SHOP TO REPLACE IT. MAKE SURE THE REPLACEMENT COMES FROM THE SAME YEAR MODEL LINE.

Sunroof won't open, when I hit the close button it just clicks

IT MAY HAVE GOTTEN STUCK TO THE RUBBER INSULATION AND DRAWN TOO MUCH AMPERAGE RESULTING IN A BLOWN FUSE. TWO MOST COMMON LOCATIONS FOR THE FUSES ARE UNDER THE HOOD IN A RECTANGULAR SHAPED BLACK BOX. THE OTHER IS UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL OR ON THE LEFT PART OF THE DASH WHERE THE DRIVERS' DOOR HINGE IS. HOPE THIS HELPS OUT. LET ME KNOW PLEASE. BEST OF LUCK.

Power sun roof

It may be a circuit breaker. My windows and door locks stopped working, even after checking all fuses and replacing Main Driver side door switch! Found three circuit breakers that you can reset with a paper clip or small screwdriver. They were black with an aluminum cover on top. They don't come out easily, just insert the pin on each one.
