The crankcase is the bottom of your motor. It looks like a big metal pan bolted to the bottom of your engine.

Actually the entire inside of the engine is considered the crankcase, the metal or plastic pan on the bottom is the oil pan. The space inside of the engine where the crankshaft is, is the crankcase.

1990 lincoln towncar runs rough and wont idle. could it be egr valve

What you may find will help is to remove the air horn and clean a passage leading to the EGR valve. The passage should be at the base of the airhorn and underneath the gasket. There should be 8 bolts and a $10 gasket to change.

Your car type is set for a 1990 LeSabre and the written part indicates a Towncar. My fix is for the Towncar.

Clockspring on 1994 lincoln towncar

It should be fine the 1990/1994 dont appear to change much esp in that side no more steering controls are added unto 95 odd But you may find ford may have changed connectors to stop you doing things like that and ruining there sales lol

If your clock spring is buggered your horn wont be working either nor will your cruise control controls.

First thing I would reset is that fuel switch in the trunk. Never know when someone might have tapped the rear bumper a bit hard.
