SOURCE: No brake lights on 95 Suburban

Disconnect electrical connector to brake switch brake located near brake pedal. Check for twelve volts or power with a test light on one side. If power, get a piece of wire, strip the ends and plug into each end of connector. If brake lights works, switch is bad. If not, check bulbs and power in the brake light socket. If no power, check to make sure power is leaving the trafficator switch as the brake light switch is depress or bypass. Check for broken or bad connection along circuit. If all good, you could have a trafficator switch problem. Oh, are the hazard and trafficators working in the rear? If they are, the trafficator switch is bad because the brake switch sends power there, then out to the back through the left and right rear trafficator wires.

SOURCE: cambelt change on uno turbo

By now you probably have the cam/timing belt changed on the vehicle... Here goes anyway: I changed the belt on my 1372cc (identical engine - except for the Turbo and a few odds & ends) just over a week ago by following this simple process:

Disconnect the battery negative terminal
Remove the timing belt cover
Loosen the alternator drive belt nut, tilt towards engine and remove the belt
Remove the crankshaft pulley nut (size 36) - do this by selecting top gear and have an assistant press hard on the brake pedal - remove the pulley -the timing belt is now exposed.
Using paint or tippex, simply mark the camshaft sprocket as it lies with the inside timing belt cover, do the same on the crankshaft sprocket & the auxiliary shaft sprocket.
Loosen the tensioner nut - remove the timing belt.
Check that all pulleys are still in alignment according to your markings and refit the new belt by starting on the crankshaft sprocket (the thin white line across the new belt must align with the factory marking on the crankshaft pulley) and over the auxiliary sprocket and finally over the camshaft sprocket - tension the belt with the tensioner and tighten the tensioner nut.
Rotate the engine clockwise by hand making sure the camshaft sprocket rotates twice, check the tension on the belt and make sure the tensioner nut is fully tightened and the belt is secure.
Refit the crankshaft pulley, making sure the nut is tightened and refit the alternator belt, timing cover and reconnect the battery.

The same procedure is applicable on the 999cc/1108cc FIRE models as well as the 1301cc Turbo.

Good luck.

SOURCE: check fuse replace brake light switch, and still

first check the fuse for the stop light circuit, if it's good, check your bulbs, it's possible they are all burned out! take one of them out, swap in a new one, and see if it lights. If not, get a wiring diagram and start checking for your powers and grounds. Take a look at the stop light switch on the brake pedal. If it's no good, there is a good chance that your cruise control may not work properly either. Good luck.

Why wont the brake lights shine when pressing the brake pedal but the tail lights are working on the same bulb

test the brake light switch located at the brake pedal, disconect the switch & bridge the wires, turn ignition on if you have lights its a faulty switch (very common on ford falcons) if not check you have power at that plug, if power check the globes cause you could have blown globes as they are twin filiment globes (1 globe but 2 lights tail & brake) & the brake filiments might be blown.

My brake lights won't work in my AU Ford Falcon

On vehicles that use a common bulb for signal and brake lights the brake light circuit runs through the signal switch. A problem in the signal switch can cause the brake lights not to function. Also check your Emergency flasher switch. Hope this helps.

My brakes light wont work on my 93 geo metro what should i do

Hi, you should check all the fuses in the vehicle. If all the fuses are OK, check the brake light globes. If all the globes are fine, look for power on the brake light switch and make sure that the power goes through make sure that you get power on the contact points of the globes. If there is no power you should trace the wires to where wires are broken.

No brake lights when depressing the brake pedal

This can be caused by a number of things. You just have to eliminate each one.
Light Globe Replace one with a new one if it works replace both.
Fuse Check fuse in fuse panel under bonnet.
Brake pedal switch Unclip wire connector, check with circuit volt light indicator, Ohm meter or other continuity tester.
Wiring from pedal switch to light globe As above (maybe cut squashed or broken wiring)
Hope this helps
