Steering linkage could have been damaged causing turning force being exerted on steering wheel keeping it tightly tensioned in one direction.

You would need to exert enough counter force on steering wheel to over come it to take force off steering wheel locking gears or pall, while simultaneously trying to turn the key in ignition.

If steering is compromised, vehicle must be towed and don't drive.

SOURCE: I have a 2001 gmc safari van. The Van runs well but when starting it sometimes won't turn over when turning key. Wondering if it is the starter and how to I check this?

take starter off and check directly with battery, but sounds like battery from symptoms

Intermittent starting

Double check your ground for the battery. Make sure connections are clean and tight. A hot wire or cable is often a loose or poor connection.

Pontiac grand am se 2002 won't turn over and

my pontiac did the same thing and all i had to do was replace the 40amp fuse. you can have someone turning the key while you hit the starter from underneath, if it starts then you need a new starter, if it dont then no, its something else. mine did the exact same thing and it was the 40amp fuse under the hod.

I have a 2001 Pontiac Montana and the self leveling system has the van stuck in the up position. It has been that way 2 days and will not deflate. What could be the problem?

a faulty height sensor...it is located in the back of the van on the rear axle beam under the van connected to the frame to axle...when u place a load in the van the height sensor compresses sending a signal to the air pump to turn on to raise the van to level height

I have a 2001 sunfire, when you put the key in the igniation it will not turn

Are you saying the key won't turn in the ignition or the engine will not turn over?

If you are talking about the ignition, the first thing I would check is to make sure I had the right key. And then I would look for my less used keys and see if that made a difference. If none of the keys make a difference, then it is your ignition switch.

If the key turns in the ignition, but the engine does not turn over, then I would check the battery first and then the starter solenoid.

Lost the keys to a 2001 pontiac aztec. Don't have

the dealer should be able to make you a key, all you need is the vin number, they can make a key for it, as loong as the ignition in the van is the one that came with the van, if it was replaced then they cant make one, if you didnt by van new then just have key made its mostlikely its original one, hope this helps.
