S-10 Wipers Don't Work in the rain

Today it is dry and the wipers worked fine. Sunday it was pouring rain and the wipers worked initially, but then stopped as the rain continued. Stopped right in the middle of the windshield and could not be moved.

My 98 suburban did the same thing (has intermittent wipers I assume) I had to replace the wiper motor. AutoZone had a rebuilt one for $50. ($279 at dealer for a new one)

I just bought a 98 S10 and it had the same problem. There is a circuit board, called the wiper motor pulse board, that has problems with bad or cold solder joints. The wiper motor is easy to access in the middle of the firewall. I removed the board by removing the 3 Torx screws on the bottom of the wiper motor, removed the cover then lifted the board out. I am an engineering technician and have soldering tools so I resoldered the power connections on the board. It took me about 20 minutes total to repair it and the wipers have worked like new since then. I've read where there was a recall on this item, but not sure of exact years or models.

What would cause wipers to just stop working?

You'd have to grab the volt meter but you may have burned wiper motor out. The motor isn't made to clear snow from the windshield in any great amount so the harder it has to work to move the more chance you'll have of burning it out. Did you check the fuses under the hood of the car as well as inside the car??

Wipers won't turn off

The wiper motor is defective and needs to be replaced. Inside the wiper motor is a "Park Switch". When you turn the wipers off, the park switch sends a signal to shut the wipers off. If the park switch fails to operate then the wipers will continue to run, unless the ignition key is turned off. You will also need to inspect and test the charging system. Where you had no issue before the rain, you may only need to charge the battery. After the battery is charged it should be load tested, to be sure that it is fine. Also test the alternator and make sure that it is charging correctly (@14volts). If you need more information please write back. Good luck.

but windex on the wind-sheild and rain-x especially where the rear-view mirror sits. dust can give a false signal to the wipers.

Rear windscreen wiper not working. Fuses are fine. Windscreen has always played up by opening on its own, particularly when its raining.

The rear wiper is sticking or wpn't work?

Pick up some Rain-X at the auto parts store and apply it to the glas, In fact aplly it to all glass on your vehicle Make sure glass is clean and dry before applying. You will be very satiafied with how water will run off.and the coating will help the wipers glide over the glass. Good luck Ned.. I used it on my motor home and was very satisfied that at times I didn't even need to use the wipers.

Wipers work fine until it rains then intermitient setting stops

This appears to be wear and tear of the Interval Timer Relay, for the Intermittent wipe cycle.

Wiper Motor problen

Most likely this is caused by something binding or water getting inside the motor, either way it is tripping the thermal overload inside the wiper motor.
