SOURCE: 2005 dodge neon - revs high in park nuetral and tough to push break pedal down. mechanic doesn't know what it is. Anyone have this problem resolved before? Thanks

sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak. When you lose vacuum the brake booster doesn't operate right. You need to go too a different mechanic. Could be the idle selonoid staying open or even a bad brake booster or vacuum hose came off.

Check the Cat Converter --- and the fuel pump pressure. If either or both are faulty the engine will run at idle but stave out when a load (gas pedal) is applied.

Look for where the throttle cable connects at the throttle body. If you can move the throttle plate here and get the engine to respond, then the cable is either broken or disconnected at one end or the other. Any other situation doesn't seem likely.

If its been without the line for over a year, I Highly doubt it. Look into IAC valve. Most are installed with 2 screws, easy to adjust. Idle Air Control Valve. Look that up, for a start.

chk out if there is any noise comes out from engine while driving like hammering noise if it is then there is need to chk acelerator pedal position sensor,throttle body if these are all ok than need to chk out the upper assembly of the engine

My jeep will not accelerate when it is in gear. it does start and run good while its in park. it will sputter and seems to back fire

cat converter is going bad. have someone rev engine and feel for pressure at tailpipe. i am willing to bet its restricted. did you have the egr fail code? egr valves hardly ever go bad. a bad cat converter will not allow for normal aceleration, even with the pedal to the floor.

Rebuilt engine 5.7 l 1998

I broke down and purchased a new crank shaft sensor . It cost $15000 hated to spend it because everbody told me they just don't fail , and why would it when it worked fine before the motor was rebuilt. IT FIXED IT.
