What is the Make, Model, Year engine size? 1996 or newer? Engine check light on? What are the OBD codes you pulled?

With the vague information given, you could have anything from bad spark plugs to wires, coils, bad ICM, to a clogged egr valve, to bad gasoline.

SOURCE: 1990 chevy 350 distributor wiring diagram and firing order

The firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
The distributor rotates in a clockwise direction. The engine must be on the compression stroke on the #1 cylinder. Line up the timing marks. Remove the cap and the rotor should be pointing to approximately the 5 o'clock position.

Good Luck

SOURCE: 1995 chevy g 20 va 5.7 engine runs rough even

You may have picked up some debris and/or water when it ran out of gas. That got sucked up into the filter. Try changing the fuel filter I believe it's located on the right side, just ahead of the rear wheel.
Try that and see if there's any improvment. Hope this helps.
Good luck.

Replaced sparkplugs and sparkplug wires, now runs rough. I checked connections all tight. check firing orger, looks right. run good till I touched it. Help.

Check the firing order with the firing order diagram that I have uploaded, and if that does not solve the problem then remove the spark plugs and be certain that there is an even spark plug gap between all of the spark plugs, (see the emission label under the hood for the correct spark plug gap) and be certain that there is not any split-fire or multi-fire spark plugs installed in the engine, because those plugs will not work with an OBD-II system, and a random mis-fire is the least that they will cause if installed in an OBD-II controlled vehicle.

Number two spark plug keeps mis fireing. rough

it may not be the spark plug it could be the spark plug lead itself or where it plugs into the distributer, check for corrosion, replace the lead, also check if the spark plug is full of carbon,if it is you may have a problem in that cylinder...hope this helps.....cheers

No check engine light on runs rough while in gear

Plug Mis-firing (firing-but not adequately) no light and no fire.
Causes: Spark plug bad, spark plug wire leaking.
If you can pull the spark plugs - and you find that one of them is wet or very dirty - compared to the others....the you have the wire/plug source identified.

Very Rough running engine

I think the auto-lite plugs are probably your problem. yes it sounds like mis-firing. That's one of the few times the check engine light flashes. I'd suggest changing the plugs to a NGK plug, that's the ONLY plug we use in our Audi's and VW's (work at a VW/Audi shop). Try that, and it should take care of the rough running, if not, it will probably need coils too.

Miss firing

could be a wire crossed, or it's out of time. since you used motorcraft plugs, did you set them properly to the correct gap? replacing plugs without gapping them can cause the sluggishness, out of time can cause the mis-fires and rough running.
