I am having this problem. The dealer just called and said it was the fan as well. Its expensive to have replaced though. Be prepared to pay between 700 and 800 dollars. Good luck

I had this problem for a year before I discovered on accident that my electric engine fan was not working. I replaced it and my PT has run smooth again. Just check to make sure the fan is working first.

Toyota Previa fan blows but no air.

It could be that; the FAN MOTOR works but the fan-wheel is not turning. This usually happens when the center spindle of the fan-wheel RUSTS and eventually loses contact with the actual wheel itself.

Car acts like it wants to stall but when you turn ac off it runs ok. just bought car a week ago and previous owner had changed out radiator.

Could be air conditioner pump. If it is seizing it would take a lot of horsepower to turn causing motor to want to stall. Also when the air conditioner is turned on the motor is supposed to increase idle to compensate for extra load, the relay for that could be b/o

Air conditioner problem 2001 Dodge Pickup

Hello, It sounds like your hot/cold blend door actuator is either hanging up at times or it's loosing it's calibration range because it's starting to go bad. The ticking noise is most likely the actuator trying to close off the hot air port but is unable to stay closed allowing hot air to mix with the cold. If it's just a weak blend door actuator, it will act up more when the air is on full because it has more resistance due to air flow. If possible try to see if the times it acts up decreases when you start the A/C with low fan speed.

Many cars use air conditioning as part of the defrost function. Cold air will clear windshield faster than hot air.
