The transmission will not function, but the car

The transmission will not go into gear, but the car will still run. The hot gauge went to high and the service engine light came on. What could be the problem. There is plenty of oil, trans fluid and water.

Adjust detent cable

There is no detent cable to adjust. Your transmission is probably a 4L60E which is electronic controlled by the computer. If it's not shifting into high gear then you need to take it to a transmission repair shop for analysis. 1st make sure you have the gear shift lever in 'D' and the tow haul button is not pressed in. Check your Instrument Cluster for the correct operation.

Bearings went out in gear box need break down of gear box picture

Buy a Haynes repair manual for your vehicle. It will have exploded diagrams and step-by-step repair procedures. Often, special tools are required for transmission rebuilds-like snap ring removers, feeler gauges, run-out dials.

2000 sonata check engine lite came on, transmission went to 2 nd gear. computer said idler control valv bad.put in new, reset computer, drove 100 yds. check eng lite 2nd gear again, now computer said speed...

The output speed sensor is located on top of the transmission output shaft, this will send speed value to the transmission control module (TCM).
The vehicle speed sensor is installed on the differential of the transmission, and sends speed value to speed gauge on instrument cluster.

Check also IAC valve and look for vacuum leaks using an hand tool gauge(Vacuum Gauge and Fuel Pump Pressure).

Transmission problem ? Dash gauges

Ignition switch and wire harness for ignition switch. My husband did both. I was losing dash gauges intermittently and overdrive. Now that is fixed and six months later looks like I need the multi function switch(turn signal, wipers, cruise lever). My husband has to take that all apart again for this problem. My turn signal blinker noise won't shut off. Driving me crazy.
