I bought my Ford Windstar new. I never had any major problems with it and love the vehicle. I currently have 96,000 orginal miles on it. A few weeks ago I noticed the performance had changed and continues to decline. Every time I stop at a red light, the vehicle starts to shake out of control and then finally cuts off. The vehicle always starts back up. As long as the car is in motion, it will not cut off--only cuts off when I stop. In addition, I can feel the delay in my transmission when I pull off. It seems to snatch into gear as oppose to how it use to smoothly change into gear. Any suggestions or advise is greatly appreciated.

Seeing as how no one ever changes trans fluid and all vehicles tend to have some trans issues,I would say your best bet is to check with a trans shop and if your comfortable there, have it towed. Unless it is something simple, expect about a $2000.00 repair bill.
Start the car with the hood open. Check the engine compartment as well as the fuel line from the fuel tank to the engine compartment. If there is a leak you will find it. Remember gasoline will evaporate quickly when there is air movement so watch carefully to make sure you don't look over the leak.
this whine you hear does it cause you to loose power if it does have you ever change the transmission filter and trany oil it is supposed to be changed every 60,000 miles you can change it your self its is simple but messy so dont do it in your drive way
Everybody I know ,has problems with this windstars,I had an 86,had to the front fix 2 times for the same thing,at over 400 bucks, each time. There know for having bad trans also, and Electra problems too.Get you trans fluid flush out.
Unfortunately, it's only worth what someone's willing to pay. $1000 doesn't sound like a scammy offer on a 10 year vehicle that at least has one problem known with it, and possibly a relatively major engine problem. Private party Bluebook value on a fair condition 1999 base Windstar with 100k miles is only $1350 (3/2009).
This means that your key is not being recogonized.Ethier the chip in the key is bad or the patts transciever at the lock cylinder. Do you have a spare key? If not you will have to get 2 new keyss cut and programmed.
