Question about Acura MDX

1 Answer

The rearview mirror in my 2004 Acura MDX Touring, w/Nav, fell off the window mount holder. The 2 inch by 1 inch "V" shaped piece that locks the mirror to the windsheild mirror mount, has a small hook at the bottom of the locking pice. My question is how do I put this piece back on after re-attaching the mirror assembly to the window mount? Not sure how to have the small hook on the back of the "v" piece insert correctly.

Thank you, can you provide some more specifrice as to the sequential procedure?

Do I place the back panel hook into the mirror mount assembly first, or place the upper portion of the back panel assembly in place first and then snap the lower portion and hook in place?

I don't want to force it and break it. It is a downward facing hook at the bottom of the "V" shaped back panel. About 2/3'ds up on the back panel there is a small block that engages with the metal piece in the mirror mont assembly to maintain the Mirror firmly in place on the metal window mount.

I tried to engage the hook on the lower back panel with the mirror mount assembly first and then apply pressure to engage the ujpper portion of the back panel to the mirror mount assembly by there is resistence and I don't want to force it if this is an incorrect sequential procedure.

Hi

This hook should lock into the casing once you have reattached the mirror.

    Hi,

According to my information the sequence is that you should put the upper portion in place, allign and slide the panel up as far as it goes. This should engage the block that is 2/3ds way up. Then gently snap the bottom hook into place.

How do I attach a review mirror for a 1994 thunderbird lx

Go to an auto parts store and buy rearview mirror adhesive. Your rearview mirror will separate from the small mounting piece that adheres to the windshield. Clean off the glass where it will sit. Follow the directions on the adhesive package and install the mount on the windshield. Once it dries, install the mirror on the mount. Rearview mirror adhesive is one of the most powerful adhesives on the market. Don't use anything but rearview mirror adhesive or the mirror will not hold.

Check your manual in the glove box, maybe the previous owner wrote it down for you.Otherwise you will need to buy back the code from the Acura dealer. It's $50 for the code here where I live, you need proof of ownership too.Good luck!

Rearview mirror fell off windshield while car was parked unused for a week

You can buy a special bonding adhesive at a parts store to fix this. Usually there is a piece that the mirror attaches to, which is glued to the windshield. You will need to follow the instructions on the bonding adhesive, which will include cleaning the area where you will attach the mirror, and usually you separate the base mount from the mirror, glue it, hold in place with pressure for about 1 minute, reattach mirror, and you will be good to go.

How replace mirror on windscreen?

This happens a lot. There are several brands of adhesives sold at autoparts stores just for rearview mirrors. You should see an outline of the glue on the inside. Take some tape on the outside and mark where the glue is. Then use a razorblade and the solvent in the repair kit and clean the inside. The mirror comes out of the holder with an allen wrench. Follow the instructions in the kit and press the mount to the windshield. Hold it there at least 3 minutes. Wait for it to dry per instructions. Then add the mirror and lightly tighten the mirror to the base. I like the kits which have 2 parts of glue. On my car I let the excess glue stay on the window.

Chevy S10 Rearview Mirror glue sticks, but temporarily

At this point, I'd take it to a glass shop that does windshields and let them try the commercial adhesive.

Rearview mirror fell off windshield! Not broken...

the mirror should simply slide over the metal mount (button) that is glued to the window.

loosen the set screw on the mirror mount...

hold the rear view mirror mount on the glass just above the metal mount (wide end of plastic opening facing down)

slide it into place...
secure it by tightening down set screw you loosened earlier.

I had the same problem and carefully cleaning the map DVD solved it. After years of use, a film gets built up on it. It is under the front passenger seat.
