On my 1998 olds 88 I don't seem to have a good volume of air coming from the vents. The fans blow the a/c is cold but just not good air flow. How can increase the air flow?

Hello and welcome to FIxYa!
You may want to check on the vents for it can be closed half way. If the vents are good then the problem will surely be on the blower itself. It can be worn out that's why the blower motor blows weak. Once replaced I believe you'll be good.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

The fan speed selector switch control only works on the highest speed. When I put the switch to the lower speeds there is no air, and I can't hear the motor working. It's as if it is off in the lower fan...

Hello Imrevoy.
When this symptom happens your blower motor resistor has gone open circuit.
When on the high fan position it sends full battery power to the fan so it bypasses the resistor.
That's why, now how to repair?
Here's the manual instruction.

  1. REMOVE GlOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR
  2. REMOVE ENGINE ECU
    1. Disconnect the wire harness clamps.
    2. Disconnect the connectors.
    3. Remove the 2 bolts and engine (and ECT) ECU.

  1. Two way flow heater models only: REMOVE AIR DUCT (Motor cover)
    1. Disconnect the control link.
    2. Disconnect the connector clamps.
    3. Remove the screw.
    4. Release the claw and remove the air duct.

  1. REMOVE BLOWER RESISTOR
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2. Remove the 2 screws and blower resistor.

  1. INSTALL BLOWER RESISTOR
  2. Two way flow heater models only: INSTALL AIR DUCT
  3. INSTALL ENGINE ECU
  4. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR

There you are, I hope your repair goes well.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Ac fan speed

Replace the blower motor resister, this is the speeds for the blower motor,it is located very near the blower motor, and is mounted on the blower box,and it actually goes inside the box,to keep it cool. The reason for it`s failure is the blower motor, even though the blower motor sounds, and runs good,it is drawing too many amps.If this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

Heater fan seems to run at very low speed

If it smells like "Burnt Plastic",stop using it,and take it somewhere to get looked at,if your not a mechanic.
It's a pretty big job to remove the dash to get to the
blower fan. It sounds like the resistor, or fan blades are hitting the housing of the fan.Good luck.

2001 BMW 330i..Fan for AC/vent not working?

it's either a fuse or it's a bad blower motor, it could be a bad blower motor resistor but usually you'll get either high or low only, so if you have nothing on any speed, high low etc, and all the fuses are ok chances are it's your blower motor.

Replacing heater blower motor

this is not a problem with thw switch or motor. There is a resistor that is mounted inside the dash on the pasenger side that controls the speed of the blwer..these have a tendency to burn up after 10 years or so... replace the resistor, and you will be fine!  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyota-Truck-A-C-Heater-Fan-Resistor_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33548QQihZ016QQitemZ260344846266QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW#ht_500wt_1230

The problem is the blower motor speed control resistor, it is located near the blower motor in the housing.
