The door latch doesn't release when the handle is pulled fully? Firstly, ensure both ends of the rod are attached, which I assume you've done since you're asking about adjustment. To adjust the rod, simply put a little bit of bend in it - effectively shortening the length between the two ends. I would do this with the rod on the door and in position. Pick a spot on the rod where it will not catch things, and just bend it a little by hand. Try the door, and increase the bend until the latch releases.

specting you have your new door handle on hand, star by removing philips screw, look at your new door hanle and it has tabs or hooks(some are forward others to the back) well now you know to what direction pull/push the handle to unhook, pull a litle on it until you see a steel rod hooked to handle, take a neddle nose chanel locks and cramped, use a small screw driver to remove clip holding rod, now intall new handle back tracking.

My rear left door will not open from the inside no matter if the Child safety is on or off

Remove the interior door trim and check the linkages from the door handle to the lock.. This is a known issue as the plastic clips which hold the linkages in place harden with age and eventually fail allowing the linage rods to fall out !! Replacing the clips and refitting rods will solve the issue..

I have had a problem with my car'd interior door handle for the past year, up to the point that it had to be removed... and i couldn't afford another one up till now. after acquiring the door hande and...

what happened is there is a rod for the lock mechanism and another rod for the door latch, you most certainly hooked the wrong rod to the new handle, you should carefully remove the interior handle, take off that lock rod and look for the other rod that when you pull on it it opens the door. make sure both rods are in the right place when you go back together and it should work just fine.

The drivers front door will not open from the inside. The interior door handle won't activate the mechanism to open the door. Yet, the exterior door handle will open the door. Please advise! Thank you!

It could be the latch, but look to see if the interior door handle rod is still connected to the latch assembly. You will need to remove the interior door panel.

You will need to remove the interior door panel and inspect the linkages. The offending rod should be obvious and loose.

Sounds like clip holding linkage(rod) may have come off, and linkage did the same because of it. You may have to remove interior door panel to investigate & re-attach.

Back door will not open from the inside

The linkage has most likely come loose from the back side of the inside handle or the handle where the linkage attaches has broken. You must pull out the interior door handle to know for sure. Might be as simple as putting the metal rod (linkage) back into the handle and securing it.

Both door handles in the interior have broken off, it is amanual door lock. This is a 1999 Toyota Corolla

Get two new handles.

Unscrew the phillips screw located in the center of the handles. Slide the handle assembly backwards and out. Unclip the clip that holds on the metal lock-rod (needle nose pliers helps with that), and remove the lock rod. Fit the rod into the new handle's clip, and snap the clip into place on the new handle. Slide the front end into the door cavity, and then the back side. Reinsert the phillips screw. Very easy to do.
