    No sticker on the compressor.

I have a guage set & vac pump. Problem is I just got this truck and, apparently the system was converted from R-12 to 1324A. Both hoses (suction and high side) are barrier hoses with 134 fittings. I thought the truck might have come from factory with 134A, I have no problem charging if I am sure of what it was stock.

Every car and truck is different and 190 is close to the date they stopped using R12 there is a sticker on the housing or of the receiver dryer that tells you the exact amount, normally you use gages to check low side and high side pressures and a temp gage stuffed into the center console and read the temperature and charge to the maximum to get best ac performance and to keep the pressure in it's range, you will need to add oil if you are putting new freon and change the oil in the compressor yo also have to evacuate the system so it will get cold any air in the system will cause problems. It has to be evacuated for 30 minutes to boil off any moisture also replace the capillary tube and o-rings. So I need to know where you are at to give you good information to get a good job of fixing it.

As long as you are using gauges, just make sure that the high side pressure is not out of the ballpark high... check cabin temp frequently and depending on ambient temp keep that reasonable as well (134 is not quite as efficient as r12 so don';t look for polar temps...you will blow it up before you ever get there.) 210-230 is average high side pressure, if I remember correctly. I've charged hundreds of units and except for very few, I couldn't tell you how much freon was used (unless using a charge station) Just following what I mentioned, I only had a problem with one (had a blocked condenser from the factory...so rare i actually remember it) Stay on the conservative side and you will be fine.

Switch on the AC @ max. open all doors, run engine at 2000 rpm, add freon to low pressure side of compressor, until bubbles stop in sight glass at the top of the liquid receiver.
hope this helps

The air conditioning compressor cycles continuously, sometimes cutting off the engine, and there is no longer cold air coming out.

Try to add freon,it is most likely low,and needs the recharge, also,if it leaked freon,it leaked oil,so put some oil in it also,If this was helpful, please rate, thank you.
