When it overheated it is possible that the motor may have gotten damaged. Does it crank - if not it is frozen. If it cranks some other part may have been damaged. Check for the obvious - spark and ignition coil.

Depends how hot it became depends on the damage caused - overheating is a very broad term that is often used when "cooked" would be more appropriate.

Mild overheating can burn the oil from cylinders robbing them of compression but seriously cooking an engine can destroy rubber components, weaken valve springs, melt pistons and create serious distortion of metal components.

Only a back to basics systematic approach can estimate the damage...

SOURCE: The water pump went out and the car overheated.

Please remove all the plugs and check the firing on all individually. Now see that your fuel lines are good and make sure there is fuel distribution into the cylinder., If there was an over flow make sure that it was pumped out when the plugs weere removed. Now since you have confirrmed that the cylinder has not cracked, the plugs must be set back and tried. Hope the fuel pump is working fine- since you had a very hot engine, otherwise this can be the culprit. Hope you try this out. Good day

SOURCE: 1997 Chrysler lhs overheated..replace

if your spark plugs are wet that's either a blown head gasket, or a warped head, that's the only way water could get into the cylinder

SOURCE: My Toyota Bakkie 2000l vvti wont start after fitting new o ring.... Water leak

What O ring? On cylinder head? Do you see water floating in oil after draining oil pan? If water enters exhaust system, catalytic converter (assuming there is one), maybe clogged.

Car overheated very fast, now there is a leak and the car wont start, could it be the water pump or is it more serious

Well it would depend on why the engine won't start.
If it overheated and the head gasket blew out, you may not have enough compression to start the engine.
A water pump leak would not prevent the engine from starting.

Will temp sensor cause vehicle to lak power

The temp sensor could send the wrong signal to the computer, but the fuel mixture would be very rich or very lean at any speed.

Hi, Our ISUZU 280 KB doesn't get diesel through..if you start the bakkie it initially starts but the engine quickly dies even if you floor the accellerator. If you press the "manual diesel pump"

Blockclogs easily if you get some water in the diesel.age in fuel system. Remove both pipes from tank to pump and blow. If clogged replace. Also check fuel filter. That thing

On a 2006 1.3 Rocam. After a broken heater hose, the engine overheated, and I didn't notice until the bakkie lost power. I replaced the head gasket, with no success. The engine still overheated.

Have you checked to see if your fan is working ?
After performing your repairs, did you bleed the coolant system ? One way is to run vehicle with heaters running to make sure that air in the heater core / hoses is bleed.

Overheated and won't start up

if it wont crank, you will need to have the concern diagnosed with a scan tool. preferably a vw scan tool at the dealer. the reason it overheated is becuase the water pump impeller is broken or stripped out and is free-wheeling on the pump shaft.

Car Won't Start

More then likely when you replaced the water pump and starter you might have installed the starter wrong or it's defective if it used to start before the repairs u did but now wont. Also, Why did your car overheat in the first place? might not be a problem with your water pump but perhaps a bad headgasket. Might wanna get that checked.

My car overheated instantly and then it had a grinding sound when i tired to start it. It will start at all. Could a bad water pump cause it not to start? Or, what's the problem and how do I fix it?

the waterpump may have went out, leaked out all the coolant, and depending on how badly you overheated your engine, you may have serious problems as to some engines dont handle extreme heat very well. you might want to get professional help
