There are some bearings inside all steering columns this could be the source of the noise

1994 Buick LeSabre has clicking noise in steering column when reversing.

Could it be coming from the dash??? That car might be old enough to have a speedo cable. Another thought, I know some Caddys that had an automatic park brake release. You had to put it in gear for the Park brake to release. Hope that helps.

When turning left or right steering makes a creaking noise mainly from drivers side wheel, also when stationary drivers side makes creaking noise when pushing down on the wing, after the car has cooled...

This sound is coming from your strut. Sometimes they will get water in the seals, or dirt, and they will start creaking exactly as you describe. This isn't a big problem unless you can't live with it, and if this is the case, just replace the strut on that side. When the car bounces when you press on that side, then you need to worry about that strut, but otherwise, it's ok.

Power steering

It sound's like the power steering pump has gone bad and needs to be replaced, As the pick up truck being 18 years old, you may want to invest in a power steering pump from the salvage yard to save you some money. But if you like to get a rebuilt pump, you can go to Auto Zone and they can get you a steering pump and give you the step by step to replacing the pump. Good luck and hope this helps.

Creaking noise while turning

There are a few things to check out. Check your ball joints, if they have lost their grease they will creak. Also the upper strut plate can cause that. Less often, but possible is the rack assembly and the tie rod ends. This is assuming the noise is out side, IF you are hearing inside then it is a problem in the steering column.
