Question about 1994 GMC Jimmy

Selector in drive,truck will start from high gear,why is this, is there a fuse or relay burnt.

Sounds like your "Neutral Safety Switch" is out of adjustment. It is located on the steering column under the dash, try loosening and adjust so vehicle will only start in Park or Neutral possitions.

That model has a little problem in the transmission, it is called a sun gear inquire about this first.

1999 ford explorer wont move in Drive or Reverse. If I put gear selector into 2 it will drive but thats about it. Any ideas what it would be exactly? It didnt make any loud pops or anything like that.


Sounds like you have a handful of problems there, smell the fluid, if it smells burnt chances are high that it is already too late and the tranny is on it's last legs, but if it doesn't then you might be able to make it work a while longer. I recommend that you take it to a good tranny shop, they should be able to plug in and test the solenoids and pressures and then give you a better idea of what it is going to take to fix it, could be the solenoid pack, the gear selector switch or even the TCM itself. Why the gear shift in Honda accord 2000 doesent move from parking


so many reasons can cause this issue,
1- rusty cable
2- burnt fuse
3- low battery voltage.
4- to manage the car and drive it to a service center, look near the gear selector, you will find a black plastic cover fixed on the front side of the lever, left side,
pull it and fix teh key inside and move the gear,

Ford explorer 2000 all wheel drive not working


all wheel drive vehicles have to work at both ends all the time unless you have a major failure in the drive train. That is why it is called all wheel drive as opposed to 4 wheel drive. With 4 wheel drive you have the option of rear wheel drive or 4 wheel drive and normally in a high ratio or low ratio gear selection. With some all wheel drive vehicles there is a selector that locks the middle diff and creates a 4 wheel drive option without the high/low gear ratio option. So in practice if the both front wheels are in the bog then there is no all wheel drive as the centre diff is working as it should and placing all the action in the rear wheels which will not be turning as they have traction so the front wheels spin faster.. If you have a centre diff lock option ensure that it is operational.

89 bronco ii won't go into 4x4 or low range


ON LEVEL GROUND
With the transmission selector in "park", start the motor.
With your foot on the brake pedal (steady-constant pressure), move the transmission selector gear to neutral- then turn the 4 X 4 selector knob to 4-wheel drive high. Wait for the 4 X 4 engagement.
Once it is in 4-wheel drive high, with the transmission selector still in neutral, quickly pump the brake peddle twice, keeping you foot on the brake pedal on the second pump, turn the 4 X 4 selector knob from high range to low range. The transfer case should then change from 4-wheel drive high to low.
Electronics being what they are, you sometimes have to repeat the process. You may even have to inch forward or backward.
[I have an '01 Excursion and an '05 F250 with 4 X 4 on the fly...I miss my '97 F250 with the manual 4 X 4 shift on-the-floor!]
Anyway, check the fuse panel for any blown fuses.
Double check to make sure that the problem is not just blown 4 X 4 lights on the instrument cluster. With the nob turned to 4-wheel drive, have a second person- a spotter, check to see if the drive shaft to the transfer case is moving. If it isn't, you have to delve into the troubleshooting process.
Check the solenoids, vacuum hoses, vacuum actuator, and transmission range sensor on the transfer case. .

Is there a fuse for the lights that light up the gears? And my cig. lighter doesn't work? Is it a fuse that needs to be changed to a blub?


Yes there is a fuse for the cig. ltr. and the lights for the gears. However, a burnt out bulb could cause the gear selector not to light up.

This requires disassembling the console around the gear shifter.

Car does not start/crank


your gear switch/ inhibitor switch may be faulty. and the system is preventing you from moving it to prevent you from starting the car in any gear other than park or neutral

2001 mitsubishi galant, gear selector all the way to the tranny will go into gear but it's like none of the gears are working. the nuetral safety switch recognizes when it's in park or nuetral


I had a similar problem the reverse gear works fine but when i shift to drive the transmission runs
as if its stuck on third.
My problem was a burnt fuse located in the interior fusebox

Headlights won't turn off


I checked fuse box under hood and found the right headlamp fuse was burnt. I changed fuse and everything works correct now.

Headlight problem


Yeah,

There was a relay between the headlight selector switch and the dip/high beam stepper relay which was not on the circuit diagram.
Its a bit difficult to access and is right under the dash on the far left above the fuse panel (British right hand drive type).
The multi spade connector (5 terminals) had been intermittent and overheating for some time. I cut off the connector and soldered all connections to the relay.
The 240SE is back to its reliable self.
