Does it have the lockup converter ? If so the torque converter lockup solenoid may be bad kicking on and off.

SOURCE: 1996 Corolla Auto Transmission problem

Hi. 2005 Corolla CE. It's normal. They tend to do this when upshifting form 1st to 2nd gear. No timing chain readjustment needed.

96 Corolla. Overdrive not working properly, if not engaging after 45mph constantly. If driving on the city, is normal, but not after 45mph, when the car is trying to engage overdrive in order to save gas and preserve the trans gears. If not able to get help at the dealership, find another one and explain them the situation.

SOURCE: 2002 GMC YUKON XL 1500 MOTOR DIES AFTER GOING

Check the fuel cap!! If the vacuum relief is not working it can impede the fuel flow and cause the engine to shut down or not restart after a stop. Waiting usually gives things a chance to stabalize and the engine will restsrt. When this happens again try loosening the cap and see if the engine will restart.....If it restarts immediately, REPLACE the fuel cap..Do Not leave it loose because this will cause other problems. If it is not the fuel cap the problem may be the filter, the fuel pump, or aome other fuel system malfunction.

Remove door panel to get at it. Motor may be good and regulator or other issues need attention. Open it up and check it out.

I have a 1994 GMC Yukon 1500 4x4 transmission problem

Do you have access to a scan tool that can read stored transmission codes? That will point you in the direction of what's causing the lack of overdrive.

Here are some causes for loss of overdrive in your transmission (considering you have a 4L60E tranny).

  • Torque converter is failing to lockup, causing what could be mistaken as loss of overdrive. To test this out, drive on the highway and see if your RPM is jumping unsteadily with barely any changes to the gas pedal. If it does, your converter is failing to lockup.

  • Transmission is in limp mode - overdrive doesn't work in limp mode and limp mode is what the transmission will operate in when a serious fault is detected.

  • Problem with the linkage - the transmission linkage has a physical problem that's preventing it from going into overdrive. This would need to be corrected under warranty by the transmission shop.

  • Overdrive band failure - the transmission band responsible for fourth gear fails overtime and can no longer engage the overdrive gear. If this band wasn't replaced with the rebuild, this can be the culprit.

My 2005 Yukon Denali shakes and jumps a little when idled. I just purchased this Yukon from a GMC dealership 3 weeks ago and it passed both VA and MD inspection. It has 107,000 miles on it. Do you think I...

Yes i would think so.These new vehicles are suppose to go 100,000 miles before it gets a tune-up and yours is there.I would like the sparkplugs are culprit.

My 1996 GMC Yukon 4x4 transmission will only drive in 1st and 2nd

It will take off from a stop in overdrive but as soon as it shifts into 3rd at about 30 miles per hour it jumps into neutral? If yes, you have a burnt 3/4 clutch. The transmission will need rebulit. Cost of about 1600 dollars.

94 gmc 4x4 1500 overdrive sometimes works

Check for a transmission speed sensor fault (OBDII scan). Loss of speed sensor signal will result in no torque converter lock up, and no overdrive. Also transmission filter should have been changed at 80,000 miles. Age of your vehicle(1994) warrants the filter service. Transfer case (4WD) needs to be serviced as well.
