Loud Ticking sound 2004 F150

My truck has always made a ticking sound but it has been getting louder lately. Even when idling it makes a ticking sound. It gets really loud when you accelerate. It also just recently has started making a loud almost screaming noise when accelerating. If anyone knows what is going on with it that would be great! Please help!

Where is the tick coming from? Engine? Tires? Transmission? Rock in the hub cap :) If it's coming from the engine...Valves may need adjusting...May be low on oil...needs an oil change...Screaming may be caused by a bad or loose belt...Ticking may also come from the belt if it is frayed and is slapping against something as the engine is running.

Check the Alternator / Powersteering belts .
One of them will be damaged and loose.
Hope this helps.

Chevy s10 loud pop and now it sounds like it has no exhaust.

You have a few things here.

Ticking is normally two things
1. The fan belt ticking as the join in the belt runs of the crankshaft pulley.
2. Valve lifter tappets can tick.

Neither of the above are particularly worrying.

The pop and sound like you have no exhaust is likely to be either a hole in the exhaust, a joint that has popped, or a hole in the flexible pipe that goes to the catalytic converter. You should be able to see this underneath with a flashlight with the truck ticking over.

Plug wires, as long as you didn't move them, all should be well.

Hesitation. Try cleaning the Throttle body and MAF sensor. Possibly check the spark plug condition and gap. Do them one a time.

Ticking noice gets louder when warm

If it goes tick, tick, tick, you might be low on oil or your lifters may be pecking. It is usually a sign of low oil or engine damage in the block. Check your fluid first. It may be a quart or two low. If not, it will need fixed eventually. That is up to you.

Ticking/reluctant start 05 f-150 5.4L

Ok... I'd do this. Drain all the oil from the crankcase, and refill with the EXACT amount of oil as specified by the makers handbook. Now withdraw the dipstick and note the level the oil now comes to.Mark this point with a scriber or file and always top up only to this level. Now we know the oil level is correct. If the noise still persists, get a can of Winns Tune-up and follow the diections. This will flush your valve lifter and make them operate as they should. If this doesn't fix it, you may have mechanical problem inside the engine.

Engine knocking, valve ticking loud in engine, when idle or drivi

Make sure the oil level is good, and have the oil pressure check by a garage or someone who can, by using a external gauge to see what the actual oil press is. Low oil pressure will give you the ticking, start there.
