Have recently purchased a new Ford Fiesta with ecoboost engine. After a town drive the coolant water was bubbling. It stopped when the fan stopped. Is this normal.

Monitor engine temp. If it stays in same spot and coolant level is same then I would not be alarmed. Could be just trapped air getting out of the system when engine gets hot.

SOURCE: ENGINE COOLANT FAN NOT CUTTING IN

On my 2001 Focus Zetec 2.0L, the radiator fan only worked with the air conditioning turned on (as in no low speed - engine would overheat while idling or in traffic, but was fine as long as the A/C was on). The fix was to replace the radiator fan resistor assembly located in the fan shroud between the fans.

try to run the water pump without hoses, and add water in the 'in' side, if is powers out the other side, then it's fine. how is your water/coolant mix?

SOURCE: 02 Durango: loud engine/exhaust sound

That noise is probably the air injection system which is part of the emmision system. When it is making that noise, open the hood and determine where it is coming from, note if it is a mechanical sound, etc. The air injection if equiped would sound almost like forced air scaping somewhat like an exhaust leak, but less intense.

SOURCE: coolant leaking replace every three days coolant fan wont stop ru

This link has a diagram showing the location of the relay: http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl581g.htm

The Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) radiator cooling fan relay is located behind the front bumper fascia below the right head lamp.

SOURCE: Air bubble in coolant.

Air bubble?? I don't think so. When you stop the engine it continues to heat for a few minutes and often "boils over". That is why it has a hose going to the overflow tank. I think what you saw was overflow from that tank. If someone added too much fluid to it then it overflowed and came out of the overflow tube.

Why is there water around the spark plugs?

There's either a big loss of coolant from somewhere such as a hose or cylinder head.

It could also be a faulty cylinder head gasket/cylinder head.

Does the car overheat? Overheating is a symptom of head problems as is loss of power.

Check the coolant level - has it dropped?
Start the engine and see if any air bubbles appear in the coolant. If so, it probably is caused by exhaust gas leaking through the head/head gasket into the cooling system.

Check your engine oil dipstick. If the oil is a greyish/creamy colour that indicates coolant has found its way into the oil system. Cylinder head problem ..

Get somebody to check your car for you. Don't drive it if there's suspected head problems - you'll cause more damage

1999 Ford Taurus keeps running hot

Does it get hot mainly when parked or stopped at a red light or does it get hot even when the car is in motion? If its only when your stopped, the cooling fans are probably not working due to a blown fuse, relay or bad fan motor. If the coolant inside the reservoir seems to boil once the engine gets hot, that can be caused by a defective radiator cap.A blown head gasket will also cause overheating. If you let the engine idle for a few minutes, shut it off, pull all of the spark plugs, see if any plug or two adjacent plugs are wet with coolant, that's a sign of a blown head gasket. If you constantly need to refill the radiator with coolant, that's another sign.

07 town car...after I drive my car for a while...it smokes a little when I cuts it off plus I hear a bubbling noise

bubbling noise is the radiator boiling. If you have a viscous fan hub the have it replaced as the engine is getting too hot. When you stop an engine thee is still heat being transferred from the combustion chambers into the coolant. When the engine temp is close to boiling , this heat will cause the coolant to boil when you shut the engine down

How do you troubleshoot 2000 ford explorer for overheating

Check the radiator to see if it is covered with leaves, mud, paper, etc. Next check the coolant level to see if it is low, do this with the engine cold. Next check the cooling fans (if equipped with electric fans) If it has a mechanical fan on the front of the water pump, It will be cool while driving and heat up in stop and go traffic. Next take the radiator cap of when the engine is cool and start the engine, look for bubbles coming to the top. (they will look cloudy) this is exaust gas from the cylinders, that would show that you have a blown head gasket. and one last thing, you can take the thermostat out and put it in a pan of hot water (preferably boiling) If it opens, run cold water over it to see if is opening and closing, do this several times. If it works ok, put it back in with a new gasket. This is about all I can tell you right now. Good luck.

2002 ford windstar sel overheating

first check coolant level in radiator coolant level sound low.if coolant overflow jug empty.coolant sysyem low, when add coolant to coolant overflow jug coolant level should stay at full cold mark.if coolant level okay, engine overheat while sitting or moving in slow traffic either coolant fan relay or fuse could be bad.or engine coolant temperature sensor could be bad. coolant sensor turn on cooling fan at certain temperature.hot wire check to make sure cooling fan motor not bad or short in wires.if all is good have pcm check it controls fan relay to through the coolant temperature sensor signal when coolant get hot.

Keeps running hot

OVERHEATING CAN BE CAUSED BY LOW COOLANT,TOU COULD HAVE TOO MUCH WATER IN COOLANT SYSTEM YOU NEED 50/ 50 MIXTURE OF ANTIFREEZE AND WATER TO RAISE BOILING POINT.IF COOLANT OKAY, IF VECHICLE OVERHEATING DURING SHORT DRIVE COULD HAVE BAD THERMOSTAT AND FAULTY RADIATOR PRESSURE COOLANT CAP. IF THERMOSTAT OKAY CHECK WATER PUMP IF WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE LEAKING.YOU NEED NEW WATER PUMP.IF VECHICLE OVERHEATING WHILE VECHICLE SITTING IN A LONG TRAFFIC LINE.CHECK TO SEE IF COOLANT FANS RUNNING IF NOT CHECK COOLING FANS FUSE AND RELAYS.IF ALL IS GOOD. YOU COULD HAVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CODE SCAN FOR FAULTY PCM. HOT WIRE TO SEE IF COOLANT FANS WORK IF NO FAN MOTOR BAD IF YES COOLANT FANS WHEN HOT WIRED. FAULT COULD BE IN THE COOLANT FANS WIRES MAKE COOLANT FANS RECEIVING POWER IF NOT YOU HAVE BLOWED FUSE OR BAD RELAYS.

Ford Fiesta Zetec engine, year 2000. overheats after getting up to temperature, stays on normal for 1-2 kilometers, then gauge shoots over to the red. I stop, can hear water bubbling, wait till it cools...

1. Check the radiator cap.
2. Check the reserve tank, whether water level is maintained or getting filled. If it's getting filled, there should be a leak in the radiator or gasket

Daughters 1996 ford contour 4 cyl. died on the road. After sitting a while it started again then drove it home.It starts and runs good but after warm up it bubbles out the expansion tank, I replaced the cap...

dear sir,

the solution to your problem is simple. yes you say that it has a new water pump, but the reason that a vehicle bubbles out of the expansion tank is because the water pump is not circulating coolant, the coolant boils in the engine and bubbles out of the expansion tank. secondly the reason the fan never kicks in is because the temp sensor is not seeing the heated coolant because the water pump is not circulating the coolant through the cooling system. 3rd. the heater never gets hot because the water pump is not circulating coolant through the heater core in order for it to get hot and provide heat. and the temperature gauge never seems to go up because yup you guessed it, the water pump isnt circulating coolant in order for the engine temperature sensor to see hot coolant and thus send a signal to the engine temperature gauge as to the coolant temperature. i know you said it has a new water pump, but i have heard that this type of vehicle may come with a plastic fin pump. i would remove the pump and check the passages for foreign matter{ trash} in the passages as well as the condition of the new pump. also one last thing, the reason the vehicle died on the road in the first place was probably because it overheated. happy hunting and please post to see what you found. i am a mechanic by proffession.
