2004 Ford F350 diesel, changed fuel filters hard starting

I have a 2004 Ford F350 diesel. Changed fuel filters and now it sounds like there is an air leak coming from secondary fuel cartrige. Thinking it was the cap, i replaced it and still have very very hard starting in the morning "black smoke" ruff idle. Shooting off two codes 0223, 0232, fuel pump secondary high. Throttle/pedal position sensor switch B circuit range performance problem. NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!

did you check to make sure the other gasket wasnt stuck on there....its comomn for it to stick. also dont hit the gas when your trying to start it. that will cause the smoke and the issue with the throttle position sensor. Also make sure that there is no air in the cartrige. Its common for them to get air trapped in them and make it hard to start because it has to bleed all that air out.

Is glow plug timer working(clicking)? If this is an electrically injected unit check the injector harness for power to the injectors.

Check your fuel filters for fuel. Sometimes you need to prefill the filter to eliminate "air locks".

2004 ford f350 diesel starting problems fuel guage reads empty tank is full

crack open an injector line and look for fuel at that point if no fuel there, take off oil filtertype fuel filter and look to see if it has fuel in it..we had a ford f650 superduty that a driver ran empty and were forever bleeding att hthe air out of the system to restart it..on diesels the system can have no air in the lines if the filter is empty, fill it before installing it...saves on the starter getting extreme cases you can pump pressure into the tank up to 20 psi and force fuel up front be careful on plastic tanks though...good luck and repost please...

it could just be the filter, diesels are sensitive to air needs, but if the check engine light is on a quick scan will point the problem out..

1989 ford f350 diesel wont start

If the truck has good batteries and cranks well.--- There is a schrader valve on top of the fuel filter housing, (it looks like a tire stem valve) depress this valve while someone cranks the engine until you have fuel flowing out of this air bleeder valve. From that point, crank until it starts. Do not crank more than 30 Seconds, then let the starter motor rest. After you have this air out it usually startes in one or two tries.

When was the fuel filter last replaced? What precedded this no start condition? Was it running fine?

Agin, this truck must crank quickly in order to start

good luck

Many possibilities:
Is it a Diesel?
Camshaft position sensor recall may cover it.
Gas or Diesel:
Fuel Pump and/or relay.
Fuel Filter.

Engine codes could help if Check Engine Light is on.
