Passenger side door lock does not work in automatic/remote mode

Front Passenger side door locking mechanism does not work in the automatic/remote mode. When the remote lock/unlock button is pressed on the key. All doors locks except the front passenger door lock respond. When the lock/unlock flippers on the door handles are rocked, they all unlock that door and the other three doors also unlock. But the door lock flipper on the front passenger side door only unlocks that door.

With inside door panel removed, there are no obvious shorts or loose wires. Don't see how to get direct access to door locking mechanism to check functionality.

The rocker switch on the front passenger side door does work. When activated, it locks or unlocks all other doors except the front passenger side door. It seems that the mechanism within the door that controls the latch isn't working but I don't see how to get at it to diagnose.

Sorry for the confusion. On the passenger side front door, the door lock flipper next to the actual door handle only unlocks that door. on the other doors, this flipper unlocks the door that it is on and actuates the automatic mechanism on the other doors.

On the same passenger side front door, the door lock rocker button on the lower veneer panel, just above the window raise/lower button, does work for all the doors but the one it is on. It will not cause the door lock mechanism on that door to unlock. So I beleive this rocker switch does function but the problem is with the door lock mechanism itself, joined to the actual lock. But how to get access to this or remove it from the door to inspect?

Okay...nevermind on the engine....found a service bulletin about the lock problem....it is a pdf. file and we can't post pdf files. Email me at bomber6509@yahoo.com and I will email the bulletin to you. It is from 28 April 2000 but if your vehicle had not had the software update, then this may be the problem. It is the dealerships responsibility. You should not be charged and you can either take it to where you purchased the car or take it to any dealership that services the Lexus model. Email me though to get this.

The most probable cause is the rocker switch on the passenger door. Remove it and test it for functionality, or simply replace it

In your initial post, you said that the other rocker switches unlock the passenger door, and you said the switch on that door unlocks that door only.

Now your saying something different. What is the situation?

Class 2 and Power Door Serial Data Links
The class 2 and power door data circuits are both serial data links. The serial data circuits replace cables in the vehicle by multiplexing (time-sharing) data to and from each device over a single wire referenced to ground. If the power door serial data is lost, both the rear door module (RDM) and the passenger door module (PDM) enters the sleep mode. With the RDM and the PDM in sleep mode, no power door operations are possible.
Your best bet is to take it to the dealer or an ASE certified repair shop .

Opening the drivers door doesnt automatically open the passangers door

Some vehicle locking systems allow a single button press to unlock the driver's side door and require a second button press to unlock the passenger side door. Likewise, use of the key to unlock the driver's side door does not automatically unlock the passenger side.
