Question about 1999 Lexus RX 300
Front Passenger side door locking mechanism does not work in the automatic/remote mode. When the remote lock/unlock button is pressed on the key. All doors locks except the front passenger door lock respond. When the lock/unlock flippers on the door handles are rocked, they all unlock that door and the other three doors also unlock. But the door lock flipper on the front passenger side door only unlocks that door.
With inside door panel removed, there are no obvious shorts or loose wires. Don't see how to get direct access to door locking mechanism to check functionality.
Okay...nevermind on the engine....found a service bulletin about the lock problem....it is a pdf. file and we can't post pdf files. Email me at email@example.com and I will email the bulletin to you. It is from 28 April 2000 but if your vehicle had not had the software update, then this may be the problem. It is the dealerships responsibility. You should not be charged and you can either take it to where you purchased the car or take it to any dealership that services the Lexus model. Email me though to get this.

Tips for a great answer:
The driver door module (DDM)
The passenger door module (PDM)
The rear door module (RDM)
The LH front power door lock switch
The RH front power door lock switch
The LH front door lock actuator
The RH front door lock actuator
The LH rear door lock actuator
The RH rear door lock actuator
The remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR)
The power door serial data circuit
The class 2 serial data circuit
The DRVMDL Fuse - 10 amp
The PDM Fuse - 10 amp
The RRINMDL Fuse - 10 a
Class 2 and Power Door Serial Data Links
The class 2 and power door data circuits are both serial data links. The serial data circuits replace cables in the vehicle by multiplexing (time-sharing) data to and from each device over a single wire referenced to ground. If the power door serial data is lost, both the rear door module (RDM) and the passenger door module (PDM) enters the sleep mode. With the RDM and the PDM in sleep mode, no power door operations are possible.
Your best bet is to take it to the dealer or an ASE certified repair shop .
