Valve tap cause

Most engines now use hydraulic lifters and they can leak a little, this causes space between then lifter and the push rod. This results in a tapping noise that goes away when they get warm or fill back up.

Loud lifter noise

Over time and miles the lifters tend to collapse and the only way to quiet the noise is to replace them or use something like lucas to try to keep the pressure up in the lifters. If you did replace the lifters it would help with performance because when the lifters start to collapse the valves do not open all of the way. Hope this helps!

Taping noise in engine sounds like a lifter 2004 dakota 3.7 v6

if its a lifter then the only thing you can do is get an oil service and hope this gets rid of it. Alot of cars start with a lifter tap but it should go away wihtin 30 seconds or so.

My oil pressure gauge is floating left to right....

I would replace the sending unit. It is an easy and cheap replacement compared to solving low oil pressure issues. If you really had low oil pressure than you would have heard noises like lifters clicking, rod knocks, etc.

It makes a tapping or knocking noise when you start it,it gets softer but never stop completly.

The tapping noise could be caused by the hydraulic lifters. As the oil pressure increase in the lifters and the oil becomes thinner as it heats up they will make less noise.

Very loud tick coming from drivers side, dodge replaced all of the lifters, still the same

on the 5.7 this could be normal as the vehicle has roller lifters. the noise (tapping sound ) resinates down the exhaust and always sounds louder on the drivers side. Hope this helps

Tapping sound from motor

If it is in fact a lifter noise, there is no adjustment, just replacement of the faulty lifter. I would try some oil additive first and see if this helps. Could also be an exhaust leak at the manifold which may sound like a lifter tap.

Lifter noise at start-up

it's simply means that the lifter empties after a while so when you start it it fills up again and the you're good to go.

it's not very dangerous for the engine but in my opinion it's better to have it replaced...
