2005 Chevy Cavalier...Strong Gas Smell..

Hello. I have a 05 Cavalier with a strong gas smell comming from the engine. I was told that it is bad injectors. Then told it was bad injector rings. I have not lost gas mileage nor have I lost horsepower. It doesnt leak to make a puddle. I have dropped it off at the dealer I bought it from. Im scared at what the bill is going to be. Has anyone else had this problem? Thank you!

A clogged air filter can cause this, ....slightly more fuel neede to compensate for lack of air, hence the smell of fuel

Gas Guage bouncing strong gas smell before 1998 Chevy Blazer wouldn't start at all. Engine still turns over

Check your fuel pressure, if low or no pressure, replace fuel filter first. My guess is the fuel pump and sensor are bad. You may also want to see if your getting spark, but I don't think bad plugs would make has gage jump around, but if they are not sparking correctly they will allow gas to flood the motor and that's when you get the gas smell

Why would I get a gas fumes smell when car is sitting idle or just been shut off. Cannot find any leaks in gas tank or lines

gas is a very high evaporative liquid..fumes extremely strong..if overfull it will smell..and if emissions equipment has issues it will smell also.. when the engine gets hot, any gas present will vent off until the engine cools..thats the fuels evaporative nature..still keep an eye out for issues..

My check engine light is on and I smell gas. 2005 chev. Suburban

Ok, the first thing to do is to have someone check the computer for trouble codes. The light is telling you there is a problem with the engine or emission system.

My 2005 Chevy Impala smells gasy when ever started and sometimes after idling for awhile.

SMELL GAS YOU NEED CHECK ALL FUEL LINES UNDER THE HOOD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.IF GAS IS STRONG UNDER HOOD YOU DONT SEE LEAKING FUEL LINES.YOUR FUEL RAIL FUEL INJECTORS LEAKING OR FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR O - RING OR DIAPHRAM LEAKING GAS.IF FIND NO LEAKS UNDER THE HOOD CHECK FUEL LINES UNDER CAR FROM ENGINE TO FUEL TANK FOR LEAKS.IF ALL IS GOOD YOUR EVAPORATIVE CANISTER SOAKED WITH GAS OR YOUR EMISSION EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM NOT WORKING. DEALERSHIP HAS TO CHECK AND FIX.

STRONG GAS SMELL FROM 2005 CAVALIER INSIDE AND OUTSIDE WITH NO LEAKS AND GOOD GAS CAP

it might be you fuel regulator it will be leaking very little but enough to get that gas smell in the cab.  Becarful not to misjudge it for the 4 injector leaking cause gas will run down right on top of it.  It sits on top of your fuel rail and it has a vacum line and a fuel line going to it. It it is leaking it will more than likly be from the rolled metal round piece buy the vacum side.  Its an easy fix but it cost aroun $60.

Rpms drop and rise while driving and stopping.

anytime you can smell gas, you have a leak, not good to drive if you can smell strong fume and not safe to drive. check all fuel line and fuel filter connection. check gasket on intake manifold and your injector. The rpm goes up and drown erratically, check your distributor connections and the ground wires. If distrubutor has bad ground or conection can cause erratic behavior RPM guage.

2005 Chevy Impala exhaust smell

neither one of these would cause gas to leak. sure it is not coolant ? if you think it is gas it is not safe to drive car as it could catch on fire. possible cause would be a leaking injector.
