Checkk engine light came on auto zone ran thru their computer and

The message commanded on and the ECM detected the ICC slip speed higher than limits does it just need the transmission fluid changed the message was a P0741

The torque converter clutch is slipping and most likely causing this code, most likely you will need to replace it.

If you would like help we would need the DTC - diagnostic trouble code .Is their a Reduced Engine Power Mode message showing on the instrument cluster ?
Reduced Engine Power Mode
When the PCM detects a problem with the throttle actuator control (TAC) system the PCM enters one of the following Reduced Engine Power Modes:
• Acceleration Limiting--The control module will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however the vehicle acceleration is limited.
• Limited Throttle Mode--The control module will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however the maximum throttle opening is limited.
• Throttle Default Mode--The control module will turn off the throttle actuator.
• Forced Idle Mode--The control module will perform the following actions:
- Limit engine speed to idle by positioning throttle position, or by controlling fuel and spark if throttle is turned off.
- Ignore accelerator pedal input.
• Engine Shutdown Mode--The control module will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.
IF you do not know this your best bet would be to take to a qualified repair shop .

The throttle actuator control (TAC) motor is controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM). The DC motor located in the throttle body drives the throttle plate. In order to decrease idle speed, the PCM commands the throttle closed reducing air flow into the engine and the idle speed decreases. In order to increase idle speed, the PCM commands the throttle plate open allowing more air to pass the throttle plate. If the actual idle RPM does not match the desired idle RPM within a calibrated time, this DTC sets.

I have a 2010 Chevy impala LS instrument cluster and it has a 20 pin plug I'm trying to figure out which wire's on the back of the cluster are for the speed sensor, rpm, gas, and temp wires.


Boy your way off base . All the gauges are inputs from the ECM - engine computer . The VSS - vehicle speed sensor , ETC - engine coolant temp sensor , sending unit in the fuel tank , All this sensors input the engine computer . The PCM then sends this info on the GMLAN serial data bus ,communications network . The Instrument cluster has a microprocessor inside that translates this info an controls the gauges. You probably have an instrument cluster problem or a communication network problem . Your best bet is to take your vehicle to the dealer or some other qualified repair shop. Need to have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes.

Engine Coolant Temperature Gage
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the engine coolant temperature as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The IPC receives a serial data message from the ECM indicating the engine coolant temperature. The IPC receives the coolant temperature information via serial data message from the body control module (BCM). The engine coolant temperature gage defaults to 60?°C (140?°F) or below if:

The ECM detects a malfunction in the engine coolant temperature sensor circuit.

The IPC detects a loss of serial data communications with the ECM.

Fuel Gage
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the fuel level as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The IPC receives a serial data message from the ECM indicating the fuel level percent. The body control module (BCM) sends the fuel level information from the ECM to the IPC via a serial data message indicating the fuel level percent. The fuel gage defaults to empty if:

Odometer

Momentarily press the trip/fuel button in order to toggle between the season odometer and the trip odometer. Press the set/reset button for greater than 0.25 seconds, while the trip odometer is displayed, in order to reset the trip odometer. The IPC displays the vehicle mileage and trip mileage as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The IPC calculates the mileage based on the serial data vehicle speed information from the ECM. The odometer will display 'error' if an internal IPC memory failure is detected. The odometer displays either miles or kilometers and can be set through the customization menu in the driver information center (DIC).
PRNDL Display
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the selected gear position as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The IPC receives a serial data message from the ECM indicating the gear position. The PRNDL display blanks if:

When the ECM detects a condition with the TAC system, the ECM may enter a reduced engine power mode.
Forced idle mode--The ECM will perform the following actions:

Reduced Engine Power
Refer to Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System Description in Engine Controls - 3.6L or Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System Description in Engine Controls - 3.8L
TAC System Default Actions/Reduce Power Modes
There are 2 reduce power modes that the engine control module (ECM) can default to if an error is detected in the throttle actuator control (TAC) system. If an accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor 1 or APP sensor 2 circuit fault, throttle position (TP) sensor 2 circuit fault, or if a TP sensor 1 circuit fault is detected with some APP angle, the ECM goes into one of the 2 reduce power modes. In this mode, the engine torque is limited so that the vehicle cannot reach speeds of more than 100 km/h (60 mph). The ECM remains in this reduce power mode during the entire ignition cycle even if the fault is corrected.
If there is a condition with the throttle actuator control circuits, throttle actuator command vs actual position fault, return spring check fault, or a TP sensor 1 circuit fault, the ECM goes into the other reduce engine power mode. In this mode, the engine speed is limited to 2,500 RPM and the 3-6 fuel injectors are randomly turned OFF. At this time the Reduced Power indicator is commanded ON. The ECM remains in the reduce power mode during the entire ignition cycle even if the fault is corrected. Observe, if a TP sensor 1 or throttle actuator control circuit fault is present at the time the vehicle is at idle, with no accelerator pedal angle, the engine may stall.

P0507 Higher idle speed than expected partially stuck open thermostat engine running colder than normal raises idle speed. Small vacuum leak raises idle speed. sticking throttle cable holding throttle plate open.
P0741 Torque Converter Clutch system stuck off : Code conditions : No engine or transaxle system codes set, engine run time over 5 seconds , Throttle Fluid pressure switch not indicating Park/Neutral,TCC commanded On @ max duty cycle, throttle angle over 8% Trans fluid Temp input 68-248f Degrees not in fuel cut off, trans gear ratio indicates 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear delivered torque 32-150 ft lbs, the PCM detected a TCC slip value that was over the torque limits . most likely cause is bad tcc solenoid or torque converter itself. The warning light that looks like an engine is lit up


That is your "Check Engine Light" / "Service Engine Light". It means the Computer (ECM / PCM / ECU, it goes by many names) has detected a problem with one or more parts on the engine or transmission.
The easiest way to find out, is to stop by an auto parts store (like Advance Auto, Auto Zone, etc) and have them hook up a Scan Tool to read the Trouble Codes from the ECM. They do that for free. Most if not all garages/mechanics also have the necessary Scan Tool as well, but most of those will charge you just to read the codes.

Driving down interstate changing lanes when into passing gear and would not come out. took to auto zone computer gave this error tcc commanded on an the ECM detected the TCC slip speed higher than limits...


It is not stuck in passing gear, it is defaulted to 2nd gear because the trans is detecting a problem. Hopefully it is just one of the solenoids, but unless you have experience with the trans I would not recommend trying to fix it. I also would not take it to the dealer, they will try to sell you a trans when all my may need is a solenoid. Ask around for a shop the specializes in transmissions, but is also honest. It will take someone who knows what they are doing to do this.

Hello there, One of the problems Jeeps do have is Transmissions. It is very typical of the sensors and solonoid packs to go bad, Also Jeeps as well have well know problems with the computer causing transmission issues as well.

I suggest taking it to a shop other than a parts store they are great for basic info but a repair shop can actually look at what each sensor is doing in real time.

You are on the right track and I would most definetly address this asap rather than causing internal transmission problems.
