Yes they do but I would rather think you have a bad battery cabe connection to the system, sometimes the battery cable corrudes and you can't see it try replacing the cable ends and the connector ends espically if they are by the battery.

SOURCE: 96 Voyager won't start

Then the next thing to check is the starter itself, are you hearing any popping noises from the base of the motor? The starter should not be hard to change. Once you pull it out you can take it to the autozone and they can test it for you. The starter solenoid may be bad also, but these are normally attached to the starter. I hope this helps give you some insight.

SOURCE: 2003 dodge caravan won't start

My 2003 dodge caravan would not start after driving about 1/2 hour. I stopped for coffee and when got back in to start it started I switched gears and it stalled. I tried to start again switched gears then it started but only for 2 sec. No clicking, no cranking sound just would not start but battery functions were great. Spent 2 days with a mechanic who could not resolve so sent to Dodge. After a day of putting wires back and checking out the problem they said it was the computer. Said that it was bad and could be replaced at no charge due to malfunction. Yes, it worked fine afterwards no more problems. They also said that some of the computers are found to be defective like this one so I hope this helps you in the right choice to have the dealer check it out if you are unable to get a computer reading and there is no obvious short in the system. Free sounded very good but as you know there is no such thing as really free as they got me for other things $350 worth. ouch!

2001 chevy tahoe want start i just replaced the starter and nothing happened

Probably should check to see if there is power going down threw the small wire on the starter solenoid when the key is turned to the start position, that be a good place to start. Double check the battery cables, make sure they are in good shape, clean and tight. If there is no power to the small wire on the starter solenoid, it may be the starter relay, or even an ignition switch.

Have a 2006 Tahoe battery good starter good some dash light come on but it will not turn over like no power is getting to the starter or the Sentinel

or the Sentinel ????? What's this ??? SOLENOID on the starter ? Do you know how the starter circuit works ? Do you know what happens when you turn the key to the start position ? Turning the key to start sends a voltage signal to the PCM - engine computer , which will energize the starter relay which sends B+ voltage to the S terminal on the starter solenoid . Checking for a ignition switch voltage to the PCM can be done at the crank fuse 10 amp . located in the underhood fuse box. If B+ voltage is see there ,using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter , the ignition switch is good . Moving on , find the the starter relay in the under hood fuse box. Pull it out of it's socket an look on the bottom of it , you will see four set's of numbers 30 ,87 & 85,86 . Taking a piece of wire (12 gage ) jump 30 to 87 where the relay plugs into the fuse box. If the battery cables are good an good connections at the battery , The starter if good will crank the engine (spin the engine ) If not ,could have battery cable problem . Need to do voltage drop testing .

Replacing a fuse engine won't start 2005 Hummer h2

Is the anti-theft light lit on the instrument cluster ? Won't start how ? When you turn the key to start , what happens ? Nothing ? This would be a No crank - no start condition . Now if you turn the key to start and the starter engages and spins the engine and it doesn't start an run , this is a engine cranks no start condition ! Now which is your problem ?

There are two fuse's IGN A fuse 40amp and IGN E fuse 10amp ,both are located in the under hood fuse/relay box . Also there is starter relay located in the same under hood fuse /relay box . There also is a crank fuse 10amp in the under hood fuse box . Besides the fuse's and relay ,the ignition switch or the PNP - park neutral position switch could be bad . Testing the whole starter circuit should be done ! How to voltage drop test starter motor circuit

2001 Chevy blazer came out one day and it was dinging as if my key was in it got it to start with a jump shut it off took battery out and charged it put it back in when I turn the key I get NOTHING!

Check power an grounds for ignition switch , voltage drop test the starter circuit . Go to youtube an check out videos on basic electrical trouble shooting , voltage drop testing ,how to read a wiring diagram .Then go here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html free wiring diagram ! Look at power distribution under electrical distribution . Check main fuse's Maxi fuse's that power the ignition switch ,IGN.C fuse 20amp in underhood fuse box ,then check crank fuse 10amp in same fuse box .Check the starter relay in the under hood fuse box . Check the circuit form ignition switch to the starter relay , pull the relay out an look on the bottom you should see 4 set's of numbers 30 - 87 - 85 - 86 . Pin 30 or 87 should have battery voltage ,one or the other ,not both . if you jump those two at the base (where it plugs in ) not the relay pins . It should crank the engine ( if starter is good an there are no opens in the circuit ) Pin's 85 an 86 are the control side of the relay ! You may want to check out videos on how a relay works also > Good luck hope this helps

Why doesn't it crank?

What do you mean by no crank ? When you turn the key to the start position nothing Happens or the engine cranks but doesn't start an run ? You mite or mite not know that people refer to crank over as starting an running . If when you turn you key to the start position an nothing happens there is a relay in the underhood fuse box .Another thing , you replaced a fuse or the whole fuse box . Starter relay # 47 Do you know about relays ? how they work , power side an control side . The engine computer energizes the relay if no anti-theft system etc... You can go to http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html free wiring diagrams an see what all is involved ! Once you click on link enter your vehicle info an under system click on engine an then under subsystem click on starting system . You can also go to youtube an check out videos on relays , basic electrical trouble shooting , voltage drop testing .Because testing is the only way to find out what the problem is . You should have it check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes as well !

My 1995 chrysler new yorker wont start. i turn key and get nothing. battery is charged and starter does not crank.

If the dash lights up, but no crank, it could be the anti-theft system, or the neutral safety switch, among other things.
Have you tried cranking it in neutral ? Do you have power at the starter post ?
Does everything else work when you turn the key on ?

98 grand prix won't start battery good tried jump start nothing removed glove box relay clicking ? checked fuses under hood in fuss box all good will not turn over clicking noise from relay...

Better check with a test light for power to the small wire that goes to the starter from the key switch. If no power need to check for a neutral safety switch or fuse. Or the starter you got is bad. Alternator will not cause not to crank over

My 2006 buick lacrosse wont start radio and lights work but its not saying nothing when i try to crank it

Hello! Do you hear a click when the key is turned?...If no click is heard either the ignition key, the Crank relay, the starter, or the battery are suspect...Having lights and radio does not mean the battery is capable of running a starter motor......Put a meter on the battery...should read 12.5 volts...Turn key...Does voltage drop to 8 or 9 volts? Bad battery...If all is well with battery and connections to it...Check the starter fuse # 33 in the under hood fuse/relay box...If the fuse is good that click you should hear is from the Crank Relay in that box...If all of the above is OK connect your meter to the Purple wire that is connected to the starter motor...When the key is turned 12 volts must be on that wire...If there is the starter motor is defective...So, #1...Do you hear a click when key is turned...That would point at a bad starter or weak battery...#2...If you do not hear a click bad fuse #33, bad Crank Relay, bad ignition switch...#3...If fuse is good Bad Crank Relay or Ignition switch; Crank Relay is a low cost item ($10)...Replace Relay...Stop there and send a comment as to results...Guru...saailer
