It is depending on the engine. The 6.1 litre is 175hp or 6.7 litre is 200hp.

Ford's horsepower for fuel injected 4.9 liter was 150 for 1987. If this is a heavy truck engine it may be carbureted which will be less than 150.

i got a 63 willys jeep wagon with a bf 161 6 cylinder engine
it has around 91 hp

98--engine code P--4 cylinder--2.0L engine--121 cu in.--mfi--110 hp. I know you ask for 97, this is as close as I could get. Hope it helps.

I have no idea myself but found the car memories web site that states the engine specifications and I hope it is correct and matches your engine ?
most likely it would be rounded up to a 5.8 litre capacity

Jerry, Drive to a good shop. So many things can cause reduced power light unfortunately. The first step would be to get the truck hooked up to a scanner/computer and have the computer scanned for trouble codes. One thing that you could try is to drain the water from the water separator that is mounted on the frame under drivers front door. If the PCM picks up on water, power is reduced until water is removed/drained. It could be an exhaust sensor that is reading faulty. Unfortunately from here its impossible to tell you exactly what the fault is because there are just so many engine sensor inputs that could cause your problem.
