SOURCE: Brake Lights 2003 VW TDI Golf not working???
This was a recall a couple of years ago, too. I took it to the dealer and had it fixed for free.

check to see if your brake lights are working.usually the stop light switch fails and is the cause.but before buying a new one check the stop light fuse.its a common problem with a simple fix.hope this helps.

Check your exterior light bulbs, mine use to do that all the time and then i replaced a bulb and all better, this is actually how the VW tells you your bulbs are burnt out or a circuit is not being completed , so then you take it to the shop pay 95 for a diagnostic then the idiots tell you its a 12 dollar bulb. BS. Second time mine started going was when i installed my rear tail light incorrectly and it started blinking, reinstalled and it went away. It also could be a bit more serious: Mass airflow sensor, break switch (cheap fix) If its your glow plugs or wiring harness the check engien light lights up.

Correct - the glow light flashing is an indication that there is fault. Often this is associated with a blown brake bulb or faulty brake switch.

most time when glow plug light come on your glow plugs not working.check fuse if fuse is good problem is in glow plug relay.
