Question about Chevrolet Silverado

1 Answer

I changed out my transmission and hooked everything back up the same as it was. It will shift through the gears but it won't engage the gears. I bought a rebuilt torque converter but it was suppose to be new. it is full of fluid but it still won't pull. What do I need to do?

Double check fluid level while engine running and warm.
If it's full...?.
A: No Fill to level and try to drive.
A: Yes then ask a person to help to shift to drive and watch the shift cable. It pull the transmission shift handle or not...? If it move ou pull.
it's time to rebuild. If it doesn't move. The cable slip off. hook it back on

My blazer won't shift into any gears, only park. When I try to go into R or D or any gear, it shifter just goes up and down, like it's not catching. What could the problem be?

If the shifter feels loose, then the linkage may have come disconnected at the transmission. If you look under the vehicle, you should be able to see where is hooks up on the left side of the transmission.

Ford taurus will not engage in reverse or forward

Well, yes the solenoids would cause the transaxle to not function right.
Are you sure the trans is not engaging, or are the brakes locked on ?
You say it shifts fine, you mean you can move the shift lever ?

Pickup starts great, goes into all gears but won't move. It's like it is still in nutural.

Assuming the pickup is an automatic, check the transmission fluid. The #1 cause for transmission slippage is lack of Automatic Transmission Fluid.

If the pickup is a standard shift, the pin that connects the shift to the transmission has likely broken. You would still be able to shift from the inside but the gears won't engage. A bad clutch is also a possibility but you would have noticed a burning smell prior to the clutch giving out.

Hi, My name is Mike and I am currentyl having tranny problems with my 2002 Silverado 2500HD 2WD 6.0 4l80e. I bought the truck knowing it had tranny problems and the issue was once the tranny would warm up...

you sound like you know what you are doing so excuse me for thinking out loud-if it were me, I would really carefully check the cable and the pawl to see that it is adjusted properly-because it sounds like either that or possibly the harness is not connected or there is a wiring problem.

Trans drops into 3rd gear won,t shift to 4th

DTC P0734 is "4th gear incorrect ratio" - that's your torque converter 'LOCK UP Clutch" It's worn out (or you're using the wrong Trans Fluid required by Hyundai - SPIII OR Both). The P1624 is simply the Trans Control Unit (computer) communicating to the Engine Control Module (ECM computer) MIL - on request signal to ECM = asking it to turn on "Check Engine" light. MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp. When the torque converter 'lock up" clutch slips or doesn't engage, the trans automatically returns to 3rd gear and stays there (it's called 'fail safe' mode) until you cycle the ignition key, then everything resets until the malfunction occurs again.
You'll need to have an AT (Automatic Transaxel) tester hooked up to verify this. Hyundai has a Service Bulletin specifically for "gear incorrect ratio' codes. If when you changed the trans fluid, was it done at a Hyundai Service Center? If not, someone may have installed the wrong fluid.
