I've ran into this problem before with another jeep. What happens is the condensation drain line from the evaporator housing gets plugged with the material that insulates the housing and the water can't drain and seeps through the seems and drips on the passenger side floor. Chrysler did at one time sale a plug kit for this. What you would do is drill a 1/4" hole in the side of the housing on the left hand side near the bottom and put a stiff piece of wire in it to unplug the drain line and then plug the hole with the plug kit from chrysler. just when your drilling the hole make sure you don't drill into the evaporator core or your freeon will leak out as well. I'm not exactly sure how far from the bottom to drill the hole if I remember right it is 2 inches just about center. Chrysler did have a service bulletin on this you may want to ask them when you see bout the plug kit.

Could be your heater core and can also be the drain line on the evaporator housing plugged. I know that at one time chrysler had put out a service bulliten on this. They even used to sale a plug kit. What happens is the condinsation drain line on the evap housing gets plugged with the material that insulates it causing water to collect in the housing and seeping out the seems and slowly dripping on the passenger side floor, I believe that the material is just styrofoam so the condensate line doesn't completely plug just holds the water back enough to collect and leak out.. What you would do is drill a 1/4" hole on the left hand side of the housing and stick a stiff piece of wire in the hole to clear the drain line and use the plug kit to replug the hole that you drilled. Don't remember exactly where to make the hole but I think it is on the left hand side about 2 inches from the bottom center. Like I said there was a service bulliten on it so check with Chrysler first and becareful not to puncture your Evaporater core when making your hole.

Where should I look for rain water leak?

Most water leaks come from around the windshield area. Has the windshield been replaces recently? If so it may not be sealed properly. Another area where water may penetrate is through the cowling area under the wiper blades/arm where fresh air enters the car. There are water drains under this cowling allowing water to drain and if they are plugged with leaves/debris, water will enter the vehicle. Is the vehicle rusted around the windshield area? If so, suspect this to be the source of water intrusion. Most glass/windshield repair companies will diagnose water intrusion problems

Water leak driver floor board

A water leak under the dash could be the heater leaking near the glove box, or a windshield leak, or sometimes the drain tube for that area has gotten plugged up and needs to be cleared out. Most times a little blast of air pressure will do it.
Hope this helps.

Keep looking by covering area at hood etc and running water on the vehicle to locate where it is coming in---Windshield?

This is the best way if you cannot trace the stains from water to source.

I am guessing that you recently had a windshield replaced. If so they didn't seal it well and it leaks in there. You can go to a glass shop and have it re-sealed or you can buy sealer at most automotive stores and do it yourself.

The other option is that it is leaking in through the air intake between your hood and the windshield. That is the air intake for your heating and air conditioning. There are drains in the line that can get clogged up. If that is the case the best option is to take it to a repair shop.

Water leak on the passanger side of a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport

The first place I would look is the floor board caps. Make sure one or more of them aren't pushed up, allowing water to enter the cabin. Also, because your defroster is probably on while it's raining, make sure the A/C drain plug isn't clogged. It's a small rubber fiting that sticks out from inside the firewall, behind the engine. Simply pull it out and clean it. When you pull it out, you might be surprised to see water coming out of the hole!

Just a couple things to check. I hope this helps! :)

Rain water leak

Did you have the windshield replaced recently? This is typically caused by faulty installation of a windshield. Sometimes it can be fixed by adding windshield sealant (polyurethene, not silicone) where the windshield is adhered to the subframe - most likely along the bottom edge.

Water on floor board of Jeep Liberty

It is most likely coming from a dried up or improperly installed window seal at the bottom of the windshield (under the wiper trim)

Take the trim off and caulk yourself - or have the entire seal replaced.

Leak around the windshield.Have seen alot of these. If you have access to an air compressor it is pretty easy to find the leak just spray some foam window cleaner around the outside of the windshield and the hit it with air on the inside. It will blow the foam when you hit the leak. You will most likely have to have the windshield cut out and resealed and unfortunately half the time they crack when doing this.
