2003 Aztek Ignition issues

When turn the ignition, sometimes it hesitates with no sound no turn over until I release the key, never happened before I had solinoid replaced for weird transmission shaking about a week ago. What is causing my problem?

I had the same ignition problem go on for about a year before it finally died. I had it diagnosed at one dealer, told it was a BCM & Egnition Switch, so I thought I would save money by the oart and di it my self. Dealer cost was $1000.00, my cost ( I thought) was $300.00 for part and a reprogramming fee of $95.00., so i thought. After getting everything in, car still would not start cause I called another dealer and I was told that the car will not start without the BCM being programmed. I had to have the car towed $88.00 bucks. Long story short, my car was mis-diagnosed by dealer number one and fixed by dealer number 2. My starting problem was 3 little wires inside the car under neath the brake pedal that were getting wear and tear and corrosion because of Pontiacs brilliant location for these 3 little wires. My final bill for everything still ended costing me $1000.00. I should have been smarter and had more that one dealer look at my car.

To do self diag on a pt u need to start with ignition off. Hold trip button in for the odometer keeping trip button held down turn ignition key to run then release trip. This will also run a self test on instrument cluster. Codes will be displayed in the odometer at the end of test

I have an R reg Hyundi accent MVI Coupe and suffering serious stress. sometimes it starts sometimes it doesnt. When I put key in ignition and turn it ....nothing happens. it almost appears as if their is...

I have the same model and year Coupe, and have problems starting it sometimes. I'm not sure it's the same problem you're having, as you say nothing happens when you turn the ignition key. On mine the engine turns over but doesn't start. It usually happens if I've been driving, stopped and then tried to drive off again.
In my case it's the ignition lead - to get it going I have to pop the bonnet/hood, pull apart the plugs that connect the two halves of the ignition lead together, then reconnect them.
I'm guessing the plugs are just slightly loose and/or the contacts need cleaning (haven't gotten around to sorting it properly yet). Loose plugs would explain why it's okay until after I've been driving; presumably the plugs get shaken loose during the drive.

Might not be the same problem on yours but it might give you somewhere to start.
Hope it's of some help!

Fist of all the ignition switch tuns with out key its been laid up seveveral years.had to jump solinoid to get engine to run .so i replaed solinoid nowwhen you turn the key nothing happens youneed to jump...

As the car has been laid up many years, it needs a thorough servicing. Besides a solenoid in the starter motor, there is a bendex as well. Its role is to push the starter pinion forwards to enable it to engage the flywheel when you turn the key. And when the key is turned backwards then this pinion is pulled backwards. This goes bad sometimes as most of the things do. So it should be repaired. Then the starter motor will start functioning as it should.

Car will not stop running when key is turned off 95 ford explorer

Nice machine, I have same model and year.

Sounds like the starter solinoid is sticking....same thing will happen if you put the wrong wires on the wrong post on the solinoid. I would replace the solinoid....this might happen again at a bad time. They are cheap... replace it.

If that's the case, it probably is most likely a faulty key ignition switch. However, solenoid switches (near the battery) are notorious for being bad out of the box, so I'd start there. It's cheaper and easier to replace than the ignition switch.

Hops helps (remember rated this).

My 1997 audi a4 the ignition key is stuck. what

OK first thing- Car has to be in park to pull the key from the ingnition. if it is and you still cant pull it, rock the wheel back and forth alittle (sometimes the columb lock doesnt lock properly and you cant release the key until it locks, rocking the wheel usually fixes this problem). and the last possibility is that the tumblers in your ignition have broken, when this happens you cant pull the key from the ignition because you cant turn the key back to the off possition all the way. when this happens you don't want to pull the key because you risk not being able to put it back in the ignition later and are forced to replace the ignition so you can drive your car. However if the tumblers are indeed broken you will have to replace the ignition anyway, atleast by leaving the key in it you can still drive the car until its replaced

1997 Pontiac Gran Am Key problem

There is a solenoid & plunger next to the ignition switch inside the steering column that stops functioning. The plunger must be retracted in order for the switch to turn all the way so the key can be removed. manually insert the plunger and take out the key.
