85 jimmy fullsize hard start and dies while running

My jimmy doesn't start in the morning but if i come back to it in the afternoon it hits right up without even getting in to it. Fuel filter and pump are new. Has a quadrajet carb which is clean. Heard carbs are garbage on these but it runs so well when its running leading me away from that. Has emmissions system no air pump. All hoses and vacuum lines plugged. Replaced accel supercoil which burned through top of distributor cap back to delco remy oem part. Have been told that condensation under distributor cap coulb be related but cap is dry always. cannot figure it out really odd! Have any ideas?

i've cleaned the carb and have tried seting and resetting the choke into different positions and all seems to be moving as it should. gas is feeding the engine but the initial starting when cold doesn't seem to work. The choke when set to wide open would need to be fed with more fuel since its not choking? ive tried full choke and no choke and the problem persists. its been a battle. do you thing it has anything to do with any relays or sensors haulting fuel flow or telling the computer shut down?

There are A Few Important things here to Eliminate as Possible Problem, SECONDARY IGNITION SYSTEM From the ROTOR BUTTON OUT Must be In Very Good Shape. Also The Timing Should be Acceptable. IF it is the Carberator that IS the Problem ,It is Going to Be The FLOAT LEVEL Being too LOW Will Cause this, Choke ADJUSTMENT also. And Carberator CLAD Engines are FINE for PERFORMANCE, It's the MPG they give You that May Garbage.Anyways If you have Hi Millage on this CARB. It May Be time for a REPLACEMENT Now as they DO Wear out and ARE NOT "DIY" Friendly at All, Took ME about 1 Year to MASTER Rebuilding them.. You Have A Good Start on the FUEL System with the NEW Parts there So It Should Be Easy to Run through with A REALLY GOOD VISUAL INSPECTION of ALL IGNITION PARTS, Im Hoping this Is Going to Help Steer you towards A Diagnosis. I Suspect it Will, Feel FREE to Reply with Any more Questions I Will Be Happy to HELP ! Have A Good Day ! .

Pull the air-cleaner off and see if the choke sets when you press the gas pedal once cold, they get gummed up and stick, these are not junk carbs but they must be kept clean and free to operate correctly, if the choke desn't set see if you can move it by hand, is so get a can of carburetor spray and clean the choke linkage, that should get all to work again and solve the problem.

I have 2000 gmc jimmy it wont start sometimes it has me clueless

It could be the ECU,but I am gonna put my money on the fuel pump and say its a fuel issue. Have you changed the fuel filter? the most common problem with GMC's is the air flow mass meter. Spray it with some air flow mass meter cleaner and see if that helps.

1997 Toyota Celica having problems starting in the afternoon

Sorry about that.
-There are few thing need to be check to find the problem:
1. Check spark plug. (dirty, oily) If so replace.
2. Check injector resistance, if not within specification. Replace it.
3. Check air flow meter. dirty>> Clean it. (Careful not to damege)

I have an 88 gmc jimmy fullsize, I recently had to replace the alternator. Now the truck wont start and run. I almost starts but then just dies, i got it to run for a second by pushing throttle fully down...

Make sure the battery post are clean ,and shiny, and the terminal ends also.Check and see if the connections on the alternator are good,I assume this is a new alternator? If so,it maybe at fault,You may have to return it,and have them defect it out for another one.
