Re Harbor Freight Badlands Winch, 2500 lb capacity. Kit included a roller fairlead. Q: how does one incorporate the roller fairlead into the winch installation? It does not appear to affix to winch

Perhaps, the roller fairlead is attached apart from the winch

SOURCE: Spare tire winch

This unfortunately is a common problem, you will have to cut the cable and replace the tire winch, luckily they are cheap.

SOURCE: replacing spare tire winch 2004 chev trailblazer

I have a '02 TrailBlazer and I had the same problem. When I got a flat and went to change the tire on the side of the road I was not able to get the tire off the winch. Luckly, I have AAA and the driver knew the trick to getting the tire free. The process involved lowering the tire as far as it would go and then kicking it. Wind back up and repeat until the winch free's itself.

When I took the car into the shop to get the tire fixed and the have the spare put back on the car, they were not able to get the winch free enough to put the tire back on. They said that is is a common problem with this mechanism and suggested replacing the winch system (estmated parts and labor $215). From what I can tell the winch accumulates rust up in the cable and locks up.

How can I install an 8000 lb 5.5 hp winch and install front to back wiring rated for at least 360 amps?

There must be endless info about this online or youtube or any of the offroad sites.
Make sure you mount a good cut out switch between the battery and winch you can access in a hurry to save your truck. A big fuse is usually available from the winch co rated for that winch. If it all goes wrong you can isolate the winch. Cable is going to be stick welding cable size to get good power. Be careful how you route it. Its a big winch, use a professional mounting kit and good quality fasteners.

I bought a traveller 10,000lb winch i know where it goes but no hardware came with mounting kit how do i mount this to my 2500 series GMC.

there will be the mounting kit available from any off road accessory shop for your particular vehicle
the reason you did not get any mounting hardware is because it has to be virtually custom made and fitted so that it doesn't interfere with the frontal collision activation of the air bags of the vehicle it is being fitted to

How do you get the spare tire to drop on a 2006 Chevy Colorado

insert the winch rod and wind it down. There is a clutch lock incorporated in the winch and it will take some effort to release it but basically just wind it down.
