To find your VIN, look through the windshield in front of the driver. You will see a small metal strip embossed with the vehicle VIN on top of the dash right where the glass meets the dash.

Hi i have a kia serento 2003 3.5 petrol i replaced the battery and now i need a radio code do i have to take the radio out to get the serial number or is there any other way of getting it thanks

You shouldn't have to remove the radio. Contact KIA customer services with the cars VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) usually found at the bottom of the drivers side windscreen. They will be able to give you the radio reset code. Before doing this have you tried the often used default codes such as "0000", "1234", or "9999", these work in a lot of cases. There are also online services (they do charge a fee) that can get your radio code back.

I need to unlock my radio code on my 1991 xj6 jaguar. the vin # is sajky1745mc647998

Please do not post your VIN # for people to see. There are unscrupulous people who may obtain a title of your car and get credit or a loan with it...all in your name !

You need to take your title and and your ID ( Drivers Licence.) to the dealership. They are not allowed to release that information without ID.

I bought a used radio for my 2003 silhouette I need to unlock the radio I need the proper procedures to unlock it.

You definately have a problem. In order to unlock the radio you will need the VIN of the vehicle that you got it from. You will also need proof of where you purchaced it from. Take all this information to a GM dealer and they should be able to unlock the radio by entering an "Override" code to unlock the radio. Then they will have to program your Engine Control Module to accept the "Brodcast ID" of the replacement radio. This is all part of the antitheft system designed to keep someone from stealing your radio and using it in another car. If you can't get the VIN of the vehicle that it came out of, the dealer will not be able to help you because there are many different override codes and they will not know which one to use without the original VIN.

Radio code

Please take this to the dealer as the radio codes cannot be given without an ID and to check the vin against the radio for theft. sorry They will do it but you have to take it to them, it's for your own protection.

Radio code

If it isn't in your owner's manual packet, you can get it from the dealership. You'll need your registration and title, as well as photo ID. That will prove the car is yours and you are who you say you are. Your VIN number is on the registration, and the dealer can look up your radio code based on the VIN of the car. They may charge you something for doing it (up to an hour's labor).
