SOURCE: i am getting a p1693

Code p1693 should have some other codes follow, but it is saying that the converter is jumping in,and out of lock up,this would cause the e c m to have a code, and the p c m to have a code,a companion code. Some say it is from a throttle linkage bushing being worn out,but most likely the code is in there because of the lock up converter jumping in,and out of lock up.

How do I fix codes p1594 and p1693 on a 02 dodge 5.9 diesel.

Possible causes for the P1594 are: - Faulty Ambient/Battery temperature sensor
- Faulty Alternator
- Alternator harness is open or shorted
- Alternator electrical circuit poor electrical connection
The P1693 is usually a companion code that is associated with the P1594 code. Hope this helps.

TRUCK WONT START

the P1693 is a companion code ,not a big deal as for not starting are you getting fuel to the injectors prime your filter and try this
I'm going to point out to everyone there is NO WAY to have just a P1693 code present during error code dumping. Yes the P1693 is a companion code and has no really meaning but...

"This code indicates there is more code present in the other computer" So if the P1693 is in the P PCU that means there is more codes present in the P ECU. So if there is a P1693 in the P ECU that means there is more codes present in the P PCU. Then even in rare cases seeing the P1693 code in both computers pointing out that both computers have codes. But there is NO WAY for the P1693 to be the only codes present during error code dump. It's totally impossible!

The reason I'm posting this is because it seem like everyone is cancelling out at the first P DONE thinking its done. WRONG! There is TWO computers in the truck .

P PCU = Powertrain Controller Unit (Passenger side firewall)
P ECU = Engine Controller Unit (Driver side of engine block)

You should always see both P PCU and P ECU displayed and 2 P DONE's in the display. If you want to see a video of this and how to properly do it please reffer to my web site and watch the video I produced so you can give us acurrate information on your problems your having with your truck. As worded by my Cummins certified friend., try http://igotacummins.com/showthread.php/178-P1693-my-trucks-at-it-again-i-think-my-luck-just-ran-out site too ,

Why am i getting these codes?p1693,u1118,f000

U1118: CAN Data bus, multifunction control module-no communication

I do not pick up the other two codes- are you sure that the P-code is correct?

What symptoms does the car have- does it not start at all? Im guessing that body control module has a problem but check up on the other codes first. if you could give some symptoms I could be more helpful.

evap purge valve fault is your p0443
p1693 is manu. controlled aux input output fault
p1693 is a code for an open or short to ground for the check engine light
does it light up when key is on? if so then it is a left over code from some previous repair attemt
the evap code wont prevent starting
check for broken timing belt
check for fuel in tank and that it has proper fuel pressure
