2002 4.3 V6 need relearn the timing time at 36 %

Reset is turn the key on for ten minutes, turn it of for thirty seconds, try to start. Relearn is three times this, try to start after the third time.

that v6 engine has no timing adjustment. it has a timing chain. so if there is a stretch on chain, it must be replaced according to factory service manual. only thing you need to watch is to mark the position of gears before you remove chain. also timing of ignition is maintained by engine controller. if you need a custom setup you need chip tuning for that.

The timing on the 4.3l is not ajustable. The crank sensor has to be relearned with a scan tool.

It is NORMAL for the engine computer to have to "Relearn" how to idle the engine after a battery replacement. This should only be temporary and will go away after a few trips.

If it does not go away, or if the Check Engine light is coming on, it will require diagnosis to determine the cause. Nobody can tell you if the problem is related to your recent work until the cause of the problem is located.

Poor idling and stalling on deceleration can be caused by anything from a bad Idle Speed Control motor (ISC)
to low fuel pressure (Clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump) to a bad connection in the A/C clutch sensing circuit. (Kicks the idle up when the A/C compressor is running)

there are 3 timing belt in the v6 model. next time make sure to make marking before removing the belts.

Hi, I'll try to help
1) Drain the cooling system and discard if it hasn't been refreshed since the vehicle was new
(fresh chemical protection if you are going to keep the vehicle).
2) Disconnect the cable from the neg. bat. terminal.
3) Remove the air cleaner hose and housing you will need the room.
4) Remove the water pump tensioner (don't fight it just remove it you'l save time and skinned nuckels.
5) Remove the water pump bolts (8).
6) Clean all the gasket and O-ring surfaces
7) Apply RTV to gasket surfaces and reinstall the NEW pump.
8) Replace the coolant in the system
9) Reconnect the bat.cable (the driveline computer will have to relearn it's strategy).
If you are going to keep the vehicle(and I love mine) buy a "Haynes manual #36022.
