Question about Cars & Trucks

Issues with hooking up brake controller to 2017 Chevy Colorado.

I have hooked up the appropriate wires from the controller to the appropriate wires on the 4 wire harness on the Colorado. Once hooked up, the light on the controller is always on. When I have had this tested, I am told that there is no output signal to the brakes. I am also told the with the Tekonsha controllers and GM products the the only time the light should be on is when it is hooked up to a trailer.

the fifth wire is most likely an auxiliary power wire, for if you wanted lights inside a trailer. (PLEASE RATE MY ANSWER!)

SOURCE: brake control hook up

off of your factory harness you will have a small brown wire and a small blue wire among the 5. Do not use the small brown wire, use the blue.

that power circuit is most probably connected to the tail/clearance lights circuit so find a good accessible spot and piggy back those wires in to the harness there

2005 dodge 2500 diesel it has a new brake controller. trailer brakes work when you push the controller manualy but trailer brakes don't work when you push the brake pedal

there is likely a wire that goes from your brake pedal switch to the trailer brake controller this wire is probably broken or not hooked up. if it is hooked up and no wires are broken I would start making sure everything is hooked up right.

How do I install brake controler on 2015 chevy colorado

most aftermarket electric controllers have 4 leads, a hot 12volt, ground, a wire that goes to the trailer brakes, and another wire tied into the brake lights. There should be instructions included with your controller. I put one on my 96 dodge ram 2500 4x4.

Out of the blue my chevy colorado won't start if i disconnect the battery then hook it reconnect after a couple minutes it will start

does the unit crank after it fails? I would check all of my battery connections you may have a loose ground either at the battery or at the engine. You may also have a bad starter relay located un the fuse panel under the hood

My 2006 chevy colorado is making a clicking sound and won't turn over

Your Main Battery is Flat, get a jump start if its safe or remove the battery and hook it up to a charger. Maybe you left your lights on, or your alternator isnt charging the battery properly when your driving around. Sometimes this can be the bushes located in the alternator.
