Freelander v6 failing to reverse

Freelander v6 was under service for the rear camshaft seal. After service, the TC alarm stayed on from the dashboard and speed changes was not smooth and reverse power too low. Replaced AT oil, speed changes went back to normal but reverse power still low. So,i braked the car and increased the revs on rear gear and from there, the reverse works as in neutral. anyone who can help?no fault found after diagnostic

I now wonder if the shifter linkage is adjusted right. I may be in an "in between" gear situation. Take a look at that.

Sounds like timing is not right. may have not aligned the timing marks properly. start there as it is the easiest and the problem did not start till the camshaft was addressed.

Testimonial: "Hi Denis, Thanks for your comment. Will have a look on it. But please advise: tried with another gearbox (used), went for a test ride. after 20km, the car is moving only on reverse but the forward mode is not operating, sounds like the car is idling in neutral. any idea?"

SOURCE: jaguar s-type gearbox fault when on motorway

Check under the driver side fuse box which below left of the steering wheel if there is any dampness then it s screwing the ecu, this could be due to a seal leak in the window or holes near the axle.ALso the transmission needs fluid to be change as most jag trans fluid need replacing before 75k, clearing the codes will clear the engine light which also improve the cars shifting.

SOURCE: I got audi a6 2.8 lit. The engine misfires

I have a 1999 A6 2.8, and my car was doing the same thing. However, after spending about a $1,000.00 I took it to another dealership. they replaced the fuel filter, it was dirty from putting cheap 91 gas in the car. Once it was replaced the car ran like new. I had to replace it around 80,000 miles. Hope this helps

Oil leaking from toyota camry 1992, 1994 model

You don't say what engine it has. The 4-cyl was a better than the V6 for oil leaks.

The V6 had oil leaks from

-rear bank cam cover gasket

-distributor o-ring seal

-oil filter bracket o-ring seal

-crankshaft nose oil seal (less common)

-rear main bearing oil seal (expensive, just leave it)

The 4 cyl leaked oil from

-distributor o-ring seal

-camshaft cover gasket

-rear main bearing seal (expensive, leave it)

The camshaft position sensor is located under the hood in the center rear engine area, mounted on the rear center of cylinder head on the 3.0L Caravan. Hope this helped and best wishes.

I need a rear diagram for a 92 s10 2.8 v6 engine... i need to know if the camshaft has a rear seal.... its leaking oil with pressure from that area..

No it does not. But there is a crank shaft seal in the rear. Check to see if the intake manifold is leaking from the rear as well.

I have 3 orange lights on dash tc abs and a hill

HI,

I have a X Reg 2.5KV6 Freelander also, same problem.
The solution for me and many other was to replace one of the speed sensors. They reside in the hub of each wheel and monitor each wheels speed, if one is rotating faster it applies the brake to that wheel (Traction control) Also controls ABS and HDC.

If one sensor fails the vehicle turns off the TC, HDS & ABS.

unfortunately to find out which sensor has failed the vehicle needs to be plugged into a diagnostic PC at a garage. I paid £40 in Stoke-on-Trent to have this done, I then knew which was the faulty sensor and replaced it.

I have a friend who also took out his faulty sensor and cleaned it (WD40 & a wire brush) and put it back in, never had the problem again, although you need to be carful doing this as they are held in place by a copper bush and need to be intact to allow re-fitment.

As a comferting note for you, I drove my V6 for 7 months with the very same fault, just remember you have no ABS or traction control though.

Another trick BUT I DO NOT ADVISE THIS ON PUBLIC ROADS is as follows. get up to 15mph in D on auto box, turn off engine turn back on again whilst still moving, it should cut engine off and kick back in again (just like bump starting a manual car) for me this reset the fault and was good for three months before it went again. But be aware, this is only somthing i tried and it worked for me. it is dangerous to do this on a public road.

Where can i find my freelander immobilizer?

your immob is in three parts, engine ecu talks to central control unit behind fuse board that inturn talks to the alarm rfd unit under dash inthe middle. all can be reprogramed but only as a complete ie all three units can also de chiped to remove both alarm and immob, allowing other make security.there are a few companies here in uk that can offer that service and new fobs.
