Evacuate the system. Disconnect the AC line at the evaporator inlet. Remove orifice tube. Pull a vacuum and recharge. But, if the orifice tube is plugged, you're most likely wasting your time. You'll have to flush the entire system and see what comes out. In most cases you have to replace the condenser and accumulator as well. Whatever plugged the orifice tube will just re-plug it once you replace it

SOURCE: AC 2002 Ford Taurus SE

I believe the orifice tube on this model requires the a/c pipe to be cut to install a new tube. You need to discharge the system, replace the tube, then evacuate miosture with a vacuum pump, then recharge with R134A refirgerant. Not a job for a non technical person.

The oriifce is in the line just before the evaporator that is in your car a/c heater case. It is where the liquid refrigerant turns into a vapor as it comes out of the orifice and then it absorbs heat from the air going into you car, thus blowing cold air. Moisutre in the warm air condenses and as he iar gets cold and it drains out of your evaporator and out the drain & onto the ground

Check the lines coming out of the condenser . One of them has a crimped spot, that is where the orifice is located. Good luck.

Actually, if you look under the dash board, near the steering column, there should be a box that has the code printed on it.

Add brake fluid to a 2004 Mercury Monterey van

I am gonna' guess the question is how best to add brake fluid.
It's a pain. Short of removing the cowling/deck the only suggestion I can offer is using a funnel that has some type of long tube or hose attached to it. Adding fluid directly from a container is possible but it's difficult.

Where is the orifice tube located on a 2004 mercury monterey

Actually... modern vehicles are quite laden with "orifice tubes"... but by far the most common reference is immediately BEFORE the AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEMS EVAPORATOR core. It is considered the transition point from the high pressure side to the low pressure side (SUCTION (return to the compressor))... More commonly called the EXPANSION VALVE.

Arguably the SECOND most common failure point in automotive A/C next to the MAIN-SHAFT SEAL of the compressor itself.

Take a look at the eBay link and you will see an array of familiar looking (expansion valve) housings & valve bodies you have seen over the years... Clean work surrounded by fresh seals... all properly tightened.

Don't waste your money if you haven't read the (pretty simple) procedures... Refrigerant can be quite dangerous if mishandled...!!

Likelihood of success is pretty good ...
the real (A/C SERVICE) tools are not cheap... but you can recapture ALL YOUR COSTS on your first couple of jobs.

I had ten reasons for learning A/C.. Ten cars and NO COMPETENT/HONEST air conditioning SERVICE/REPAIR within a 200 mile radius

Hope this helps
